Veils.......

FutureMrsSmith, on March 10, 2015 at 8:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

So, my cousin's wife offered to let me borrow her veil for my wedding (yay! free veil)! I just recently brought my dress home from DB and the color is classified as "soft white." I held the veil up to it and they don't match at all, the veil is a bright white. I've tried looking up "soft white" veils online and they don't really exist. They only have one on the DB website and it's $200, no thank you! LOL!

Does anybody know how DB's "soft white" is compared to an ivory color? How concerned are you with having your veil perfectly match your dress color wise? Thanks in advance!

When I was looking at a soft white dress, the db consultant said that you would match it with ivory accessories.

I bought my veil @ Hobby Lobby. It was 50% off. It cost me $7.50. (I am only having one to make my granny happy) They have white and ivory. For the price, it's worth trying to match! They have some plain Jane ones and some with rhinestones.

I ordered extra lace with my dress, so I took a piece of that in to match.

I tired on a few "soft white" dressed at DB before I got my "white" dress... they gave me ivory veils to try on with the soft white dresses.. looks good to me

Try searching for diamond white veils. That's between a stark white and ivory.

I'm not sure of the exact color of my veil or dress but I don't think they're the same and I'm still deciding if it bothers me or not.

I just ordered a "light ivory" veil for my (technically) ivory dress-- we actually thought the sample was white when I tried it on. Ordered it for $36 on Etsy...figured it's cheap enough that I can take the chance.

My dress is "pearl white", which is also a soft white. I had to get an ivory veil... I bought mine for $10 on ebay. It's from China and took about 3 weeks to come in, but it's perfect, and can't beat the price! Smiley smile I'm only wearing it for the ceremony, so I hated to spend a fortune on it.

@FutureMrsSmith - this is the one that I got:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Handmade-beaded-White-Beads-Pearl-White-Ivory-2T-Wedding-Bridal-Veil-with-Comb-/161111029543?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=460211457719&hash=item2582f73727

It does have silver sequins in it, which didn't really go with my dress, but I just snipped out the silver sequins and left all the pearls and it was perfect. Again, for $10, it was worth it! It took me about 30 minutes to snip out the silver with a pair of scissors.

I actually bought it in both white and ivory because I wasn't sure which would match my dress (and didn't mind being out the extra $10 to find out). I definitely needed the ivory to match my dress... it's "pearl" white. Not a true white, but not a true ivory either. I would go with ivory if I were you.

@SoontobeJB-- I thought that maybe DB was using soft white as another word for ivory, but they also have an ivory color choice too, I was confused! LOL!

@Amber S--Thanks! I think I'm going to go ahead and order that! It's beautiful and a total score!
