Veils or no veils?

How many of you lovely ladies are going to wear veils? If you’re wearing one, are you having it custom made or just picking one from the store?

Yes! I ordered some tulle from an Etsy shop and I plan on making it myself. I am a seamstress and run my own business so I wanted to make some part of my attire for the day.

I will not be wearing one! We're not having a traditional wedding anyways (we're doing an adventure elopement!) so a veil isn't very practical for me - plus I'm all in favor of foregoing traditions to have fun! Make your wedding your own!

I am wearing a vail. Because for me it makes me feel like a bride not just wearing a fancy dress. That's just me. I am not going to cover my face with it though.
I happened to just grab one off the rack and fell in love with it. I wasn't even thinking about what I wanted for a veil yet just randomly grabbed and lucked out.

I’m wearing my moms veil. I love the beading in detail in it.

I bought mine at davids bridal and I wore mine for getting ready photos, first look and couple portraits. I do like the idea of not wearing it during first look and then adding it for ceremony. We did all of our photos before the ceremony though and I liked having my veil in the photos.

I kept mine on halfway through cocktail hour and then took it off.

I’m wearing a very sheer, fingertip length veil. I ordered mine from Blanca Veils with a magnetic clip for easy removal after the ceremony. I just ordered, so I have not received it yet, but the seller is extremely helpful with any questions! The back of my dress is extremely detailed and I considered not wearing a veil because I didn’t want to cover this up, but I love the pictures that use a veil. This is why I opted for a very shear one.

I am wearing my grandmother’s veil. My mom also wore it when she got married. My mom had to replace all of the tuille because of damage from being stored in a basement 😒, but the lace was salvaged. I’m also wearing my grandmothers headpiece. Both are 70 years old! Here is a picture of my grandmother wearing them Veils or no veils? 1

I’m wearing one for the ceremony! Etsy has some great options (around $250) and you can send your dress pic in so they can customize it to your dress!

I’m using a veil given to my mother for her own wedding. She didn’t end up using it, but I love it

So I’m personally not wearing one for the ceremony itself (we’re getting married on the beach and I’m worried about it blowing in my face with the wind) but I was going to borrow my sister’s veil for a couple of pictures with my FH after the ceremony since I love the veil look

YES! I'm wearing one! My seamstress is supposed to be making mine - a lot of the veils you could get in stores here were quite expensive and most appeared to the the long, thin, rectangular type like this:

whereas, I wanted a more rounded, 'covering' type veil, like this:

I'm wearing one, I ended up with a reallllly simple dress but then absolutely fell in love with a more intricate veil. Honestly the veil wasn't that much cheaper than the dress (neither were crazy), but in the end it allowed me to have the classic look plus the wow of the veil. I think after the ceremony, I'm going to have my planner drape my veil over the memory table for my mom who passed. I love the idea of using the veil for both wow as I walk down the aisle, plus decor in a special way during the reception.

As additional consideration, I thought about adding a veil as a skirt. Again my dress is super simple and tight around my hips, so I thought I could take this beautiful veil and turn it into a see-through skirt that hooks around my natural waist then shows my form-fitting dress underneath. My FMIL made a good point though, the veil is soooo traditionally bridal. I was skeptical until I put it in my hair. She was so right, I felt like a bride when I did that.. not sure how to describe it, call me traditional, I just loved the feeling of it.

Do whatever you feel best in. If you don't want one, definitely no pressure to wear one, I doubt anyone would even notice. I didn't want one going into dress shopping, but of course I ended up with a completely different look than what I went in thinking I would want. My 2 cents, best of luck!

I’m wearing one for the Church Ceremony. It’s modest with a nice edging.
