Veil or no veil?

I keep going back and forth. Was wondering if anyone else is choosing not do a veil? Would love to hear! 🤍

I'm wearing a veil with my dress. I'm waiting for it to arrive, but it's an ivory cathedral length veil with black lace on the bottom. For the reception I think I'm going to wear a headband. Best of both worlds!

I was on the fence for a while about wearing a veil. Then I tried a few kn and loved the look. You can always get the best if both worlds when it comes to your pictures. Take some with a veil and others without. Good luck!

I’ll be wearing a veil but as soon as the ceremony is done I’m taking it off.

We planned a full wedding and reception but were forced into a Covid minimony. I had gotten an inexpensive fingertip length simple tulle veil off Amazon for about $15 because I wasn't sure if I wanted a veil or not so didn't want to spend a lot in case I didn't like it. I ended up wearing the veil for the ceremony itself but asked my MOH to take it out after, because it just didn't feel like me. It felt cumbersome and hid my hairstyle and dress. I ended up liking all of the photos of me without the veil much better than with. I ended up giving the veil to my co-workers five-year-old so she could play princess, because I knew I didn't want to wear it again for our celebration next year. At $15, it was no major loss.

I think it really depends on you, your dress, and the veil. A veil can go with any dress, from an elaborate lace ball gown, where it just adds to the entire ensemble, to super chic contemporary crepe dresses and civil ceremony midi length dresses where a veil adds a pop of bridal glam. My dress was all lace with an illusion lace bodice, deep v-front, low back, and long train.

I would say, unless you have your heart REALLY set on a veil or a certain style, there is no need to spend hundreds on a veil, especially if you are just thinking of a simple tulle version. The one I got on Amazon wasn't any different than ones at bridal boutiques that cost 4-20x more.

I do love the idea of doing something bridal with your hair, whether it be a hairpiece or veil, mostly because when else do you get to do something like that. But in the end, your look should reflect you, and the veil just wasn't really me and felt unnecessary with the dress I wore.

I hadn’t planned to wear one my sisters insisted so we went veil shopping and I loved how it complimented my dress so I chose to wear it.

No veil for me. The dress I decided on frames my shoulder tattoos too perfectly. I AM getting my tattoos touched up before the big day though!

Bowen Dryden (in the UK) made my veil! They were awesome to work with & captured exactly what I described I wanted for the veil.

I'm skipping the veil, having my hair done by a professional and having a really ornate comb put in.

Do whatever feels most comfortable for you and im sure it will be gorgeous.

I’m still on the fence. I have a mob of very curly hair, and feel like my hair would overshadow any veil. So I plan to order a few from Amazon & try them out at my 2nd fitting.

I didn’t think I wanted one, but after seeing some of the pictures from my photographer with them I’m learning towards getting one.

I may sound biased, but I'm a veil designer. I have several friends who regret not wearing a veil of some type for their wedding ceremony. For myself, I'm doing my interpretation of Princess Diana's veil from 1981. My gown has a cathedral train and my veil is 10ft wide and 11 feet long (longer if you count my waist length blusher). It's gathered so it doesn't look that wide and I'm doing it in a pale blush the color of my gown. It will be removed after our photos.

I recommend at least trying several on. You just never know!! Best wishes!!

Oooo this is an interesting idea. I’ve never heard of anyone wearing their veil for pictures but not the ceremony. I may consider this!

I’m wearing one that just goes in my hair and down the back but not over my face and then after the ceremony will take it off.

I have been going back and forth on a veil too. I plan on having a small, thin floral crown. I could attach a veil to the back of it but i'm still torn... I still have a bit of time to decide though.
