Veil length, chapel or cathedral.

Maria, on November 17, 2015 at 9:16 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

My dress is chapel length, an I am not sure if I should go with a chapel or cathedral length veil? or does it matter? My wedding is indoors, a civil ceremony in a hotel, there will be about 150 people it. I don't want to be OTT either.

This is the dress, I am undecided as to ware a veil, or the matching shrug..

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Yay another Justin Alexander bride Smiley smile

I went with fingertip length just because I am only wearing it for the ceremony. I didn't need something super long, as I already had a massive train.

I think chapel length would be nice with that dress.

I'm leaning towards an elbow length, if I wear one at all. You should try the different lengths on and see which one you like best.

I think this is totally a personal preference decision, but personally I like Elbow or Fingertip length veils!

I like the dress without the matching shrug, but if you have any arm insecurities (like I do) then I'd wear the shrug!

I went to a shop yesterday to get an idea of length and she had me trying on longer own, the lady in the shop was awful though!! I won't see my dress again until January to be able to try one on with it, and I was thinking of buying one online so I would need to order before then..

I originally wanted a long veil, either chapel or knee-length. But I tried on different lengths, and fingertip actually ended up looking the best, much to my disappointment. But I still think it's going to look great. You should try on different lengths and see what looks the best, you may be surprised.

Beautiful dress! Here's my dress/veil. It was chapel length train and cathedral length veil. My veil was glitter net with beaded crystal edging. I loved it.

Thats really gorgeous!! Ok in a moment of madness I have taken the plunge, I have bought a plain cathedral length veil, with some pearls on Ebay for $30, if I don't like it I'll not have spent too much!! have had it delivered to my Bridesmaid who lives in CA as it was cheaper, will get it when she's home at christmas..I have an appointment for alterations the first week of January, Ah can't wait to see if it works now..

FWIW I think a plain cathedral veil will look gorgeous with that dress! The tulle will blend right with the train for an ethereal look.

Have you tried on veils with your dress yet?? I don't think there's really any way to know til you do that. I always thought I'd wear an elbow-length veil, but when I tried one on it just didn't do it for me. I ended up with a cathedral-length veil! You just have to actually try them on with your dress and see what "speaks" to you!

On the day I bought the dress it was a big sale day, 80%off so it was a bit crazy, hadn't even planned on actually purchasing was just there for the look.Anyway I didn't really get to try veils on properly my aunt who was there on the day put a short one on me and insisted on buyimg veil, just because she thought it was pretty and was a bargain, she said she wouldn't be offended if I didn't ware it, but it's too short really.the dress is now with the alternations lady who has a premises from home, I went to a bridal shop the other day and tried on a cathedral length one, but it was hard to get the idea with my jeans on!! They weren't very helpful either. Anyway as I said above I found one on eBay very cheap, will see what it's like and take it to my next dress appointment in January, it didn't cost to much so if I decide not to go with it I won't have lost much.
