Veil Disaster!

Arianna, on August 22, 2017 at 9:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

I came home from class today and found that our new puppy has gotten ahold.of my veil and pretty much destroyed it. Not only was I devastated becuase it was my veil i planned on wearing, but becuse it was my mother's. I am upset because I have always wanted to have my mom's dress or veil on my wedding day. Is there a way i can fix it or even make it into something new to wear? I am so lost on what to do.

Oh boy. tulle is such a delicate fabric and it's a woven material, so repairing a small hole would be manageable, but repairing a shredded veil is not.

i would mourn the loss and buy a new veil to wear. cut an undamaged section of the tulle away and wrap your bouquet in it or sew it into your dress to keep the sentiment!

I'm so sorry this happened. Please keep an eye on your pup to make sure he didn't ingest any of the material. It could cause a blockage.

Maybe make sure it is in a secure place where your dog cant get to it.

Honestly, if this meant that much it would have been away and protected from a puppy. Hopefully the dog is fine and only rippednit up verses eating it and having internal issues. Make sure the keep a close eye on the dog for signs.

Maybe you could use the head piece and get new tulle?

Hopefully your puppy is ok! I have a wedding room (the guest bedroom) that my dogs can't get into for things like this. Maybe that's an option in the future?

Looks like it might just have to be shoulder length .. take it to a seamstress they will be able to help shorten it !!

    Hope the puppy is ok.

I think there's no hope for this veil, sorry op. I hope your mom is understanding, because I would have a hard time not being upset...

Have you taken the puppy to the vet? Looks like s/he bit off a good amount.

I say shorten it, it still has that sentimental value but, now with a twist! Smiley winking

If you plan on having the puppy in the wedding you could use the excess to create a piece for it to wear Smiley smile

Remove the shredded tulle from the comb and add new tulle. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do to repair it. Good luck

I think @adventuresofruth had a great idea about using the headpiece and getting new tulle. Take it to the seamstress and have her help you brainstorm! Sorry to say that I think the current tulle is a lost cause, unless you want to drastically shorten the veil.

Take it to a seamstress, could it be turned into a birdcage veil? Or perhaps there is a layer that is still long enough to be a blusher layer and a new longer layer can be added under it. If it cannot be salvaged into a veil I'd take the fabric and use it as a bouquet wrap. I'm so sorry. Is the puppy ok, did he eat any of it?

Purchase new tulle and attach it to the existing head piece

A Seamstress could fix it, and honestly I would encourage you to keep things away from your puppy, especially things that are so sentimental to you. All of my wedding things are kept up and away and in a different room. Keep an eye on him and hope he doesn't get a blockage from ingesting that fabric.
