Vegas Invitation Wording

MrsS2013, on January 19, 2013 at 11:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

We are going to Vegas in Oct 2013 to get married. Its going to be very casual, in a chapel off the strip, with less than 15 guests. We'll all be wearing jeans and nice shirts. We aren't really having a reception afterwards, I just thought we'd find a place for dinner, even at the hotel.

The questions I have are, do I say anything about a "dinner" on the invite or can that be word of mouth? Also, we are blocking rooms at one hotel for everyone, do I include a seperate card with that info and how to reserve the room or can that go on the invite as well?

Right now the invite is such:

Please join Kris and Gregg as they turn a stroke of luck

Into a winning streak!

Chapel name

Address

date and time

The lucky couple will be staying at HOTEL

A block of rooms have been booked, please go to

HOTEL website to reserve your room by DATE

(note - the website is specific to us, no code or login needs to be given)

Thanks for your help!

First I want to say the wording is adorable! I'd put all of the logistics on the back of the card, if you can. I would include information about dinner if you want your guests to celebrate with you because even though 15 is not a huge number, it can be big party depending on the restaurant so having a head count can still be good for making reservations.

I agree with Merlani C. above, put the info about the hotel either on the back of the invite or on a separate enclosure, and include the info about the dinner. I would look around for a dinner place or two soon, just to get that settled. Vegas Groom dot com is a good site for all things Vegas wedding related - check there for a place, also check Open Table for "private dining" if you are looking for a private room for your group. Sounds like it will be casual, so you most likely want a restaurant with the same. Yelp might also be a good place to check out. Best Wishes!

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to do a separate enclosure, I am making the invites myself and using cardstock and will be too thick if i put anything on back. Besides people don't always look at the back of things.....my maid of honor has been to Vegas many times and is

helping search for a restaurant. The invites aren't going out until March, Im just trying to stay ahead of the game!

I agree. Maybe you could write, "Join us for a casual dinner at ______ after the ceremony to celebrate"?

We are getting married in Vegas as well. In my research, it seems like a lot of people liked going to Maggiano's for a dinner/reception. I personally wasn't too thrilled with the idea of that--we can eat at Maggiano's in Indianapolis--but a family-style meal sounds like it might be fitting for your casual atmosphere.
