Valet parking at our reception.

Future Miranda, on June 27, 2017 at 1:13 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

We recently booked our venue and ceremony (two separate locations). We fell in love with the venue the first time we saw it. The only drawback is that it has no accessible parking lot, only street parking. The venue does however offer valet parking services the day-of for about $5 per car. My concern is: A.) Would you as guests be steered away from showing up to the wedding reception because of the valet charge? B.) Would it be appropriate to incorporate a small announcement card that lets them know about the valet services so they can plan accordingly? Thank you tons!

You should cover the cost of the valet parking for your guests.

I would be mad if I showed up to a wedding and had to pay for parking. You should cover the costs of each car.

Thank you for the advice. Unfortunately, the venue doesn't give the option for us to cover the cost of the valet parking.

100% agreed! You are responsible to pay for parking fees for your guests. At no point during your wedding/reception should your guests have to open their wallets.

@cyndi-leave them a credit card and tell them to charge it for all guests valet fees

There is no way a venue won't let you pay for something. It might not be included in the packages they offer but there is a way around it.

You somehow have to make it happen. They shouldn't have to pay to attend your party.

Personally I agree that it would be nice for you to pay the valet but at $5 I consider that negligible. To me anything under $15 is annoying but not a big deal. If I'm having to pay $15+ to park valet at someone's wedding though I'm not going to be happy.
