Valentine's Day gifts?

Natalie, on January 28, 2020 at 3:46 AM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 8

Do you get Valentine's Day gifts for each other? And I also wonder whether couples who get married on 02/14/2020 will get each other special Valentine's gifts!

Nope. We don’t celebrate it. Valentines for us is whenever. We never stop loving on each other.

Our dating anniversary is the 15th, so we celebrate both! He always gets me roses for Valentine's day. We discussed getting married then, but it was way too soon and we wanted to keep that date special on its own.

We don't do anything big, but this year we celebrate the 5th anniversary of our relationship, so I'm about to give him a subscription to a good photo editing software called Photoworks. He is a photographer so I decided the software would be a good gift for him.

Usually its my favorite but when we got engaged I wanted to not do any gifts until wedding day. Hes not exactly backing down so I asked for an instant camera so I don't have to buy one later for our guest book. Im getting him some Grateful Dead wedding stuff and attire due to the fact he is the biggest dead head I've ever met.

We do, but this year it'll probably just be small.

I'm having donuts delivered to his office. This is our first year with full-time jobs and I've always wanted to have something delivered to him at work so this was my opportunity.

I usually plan most of our date nights, but I'm leaving this one up to him and I'm 99% sure he just made a dinner reservation so I'm excited Smiley smile

We're not big gift people, so we usually opt for a card and a nice dinner or adventure together.

I think in the future we'll rent an airbnb somewhere snowy for a weekend.

I know a lot of people think valentine's day is stupid and has been commercialized, but by refusing to celebrate it they're just as guilty of falling into it that consumerism lens as someone who buys roses and hallmark cards. Just use it as an opportunity to express your love and appreciation, with or without chocolates and flowers.

We did something big last year for Valentine's Day last year (our first V Day together). We're planning on doing dinner and small gifts this year instead of something big so we can save money for our honeymoon at the beginning of March! We, also, got each other pretty big wedding gifts as well so I didn't want FH spending a ton on me for Valentine's Day.

I put a moratorium on gift-giving until after the wedding so we can put all of our money towards it. I'll give him a card, and he'll probably give me one, and we'll go out for dinner.
