Hi ladies,

I have been following all of your posts since getting engaged in November and now need some advice. My mom offered me her veil to use for my upcoming May wedding. My mom got married in 1980, and the veil definitely has an 80's vibe with the large headpiece and fake flowers along the back brim of the headpiece. Thankfully the lace is very similar to my own dress.

Here's my question: should I use it or thank her and find a veil that is more current?

If I use it, it's really important to me that the veil work with the dress to complement each other and not have one or the other look out of place.

Thanks for your help!

I love the idea of incorporating your mom's veil. I think that would mean a lot to her as well, but its ultimately up to you! Also keep in mind that you will only wear the veil for the ceremony and pictures (probably). I think its beautiful!

My grandmother who passed away when I was a kid made my mom's veil so I've always wanted to wear it. However the original veil is cathedral length, and way too long so we are going to be using the front part of the veil as mine so it fits my dress and style. Talk to mom like PPS have said.

It's beautiful! It will compliment your dress well. In my opinion, I would leave just as is.

Is there a way to remove the head piece and just add a comb? That way tou get to wear her veil but it more suited for you?

It goes very well with your dress. If you wanted to change anything I would suggest making the headpiece a little smaller as the size is the only thing making it semi dated.

I wore my mom's veil but took it off of the headpiece and attached it to a small comb
