Any recommendations on US honeymoons?

We are from Indiana and really open to anything! I personally do not want to go to Hawaii due to the expense and time its going to take to travel there.

We are open to out west as well as east coast!

I want to do something relaxing, but still have plenty to do!

We're looking at 06/27 - 07/04/2020 for our dates of travel.

Florida would be nice. Or I loved new orleans. I guess are you looking for something beachy?

We are honestly open to ANYTHING! We were thinking of the Grand Canyon, but that just does not sound relaxing to me.

We are doing a road trip from Cali to Nashville Tennessee. Neither of us have ever been and he doesn’t want to fly. I have been all over the US but never there. We will be stopping at different locations along the way to see different things and in Oklahoma to see a friend. We can’t wait.

I think it it depends on what you are into. Do you want beach or forest? Yosemite, Lake Tahoe are beautiful or you could do Monterey or Half Moon Bay as well.

I love road trips! They are lengthy, but you see so much!!

We honestly don't really know what we want right now. I like the idea of a beach, but with us going July 4th week, it might be a little chaotic.

If you’re planning on going away for the 4th of July weekend, why don’t you pick somewhere that does a big celebration. I know Philadelphia and Washington DC both do. Both of those locations are close enough that you could do the beach for a couple days and then drive into either city for the festivals and to see all the historical stuff.

I've traveled all of AZ, California, Texas, and OK. Personally, Little Italy in California is AMAZING. Near the water, amazing food on every corner, so romantic, hand made Gelato everywhere. It doesn't even feel like the US. Also, New York.

A couple years ago (when FH was living in Michigan) in August, we went to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Tahquamenon Falls in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It was amazing and gorgeous (and fairly inexpensive for a week)! We did a day hike, went kayaking on Lake Superior, did the Shipwreck Museum, and saw tons of waterfalls. I've heard great things about Marquette, Michigan (maybe an hour west of Pictured Rocks) and there's always Mackinac Island or Traverse City too.

The Pacific Northwest is also really lovely in the summer! FH and I both did summer internships in Seattle (different years) and there is so much to do in the area between hiking, water activities, the market, etc.

We went to Hawaii and loved every second of it. However, if that wasn't an option, these would be my next choices:

    San Diego

    New Orleans

    New York

    Jackson Hole, WY

    Washington DC

    Annapolis MD

    Denver

    Napa/San Francisco

Those have been our other favorite destinations in the US!

If you want relaxing and scenic here are my picks.

-Mendocino Coast, California. I personally like the Little River area. You can rent hotels that have a cliff view of the ocean or an Air B and B that has a hot tub right on the deck of that cliff view and duuuuuuuuuuuddddeeee. There's nothing like it.

    - Lake Tahoe, California, same concept. But with a Lake.

-Yosemite, California there's a lot of different "glamping" options but there's also more traditional hotel type accommodations. I can guarantee you, you haven't seen anything like this.

    Other great escapes:

-New Orleans. So much fun and the food mmmmmmmmm

    - San Diego, although you do have to be careful in the summer it can get a bit foggy and it's on the pricey side anywhere in SoCal.

    - North Platte, Nebraska. I know it's weird but I had the best time here. Very down home, cowboy types.

-New York, New York. It's NYC. Enough Said. Expect to spend $$$$$, though. But with the subway app it's at least easier to navigate.

-Anywhere with a Jacuzzi tub. Make your hometown a minimoon lol.

You could stay at a hot springs resort here in New Mexico. Ojo Caliente is very popular but there are others. They are quiet, relaxing, and usually well located. I believe Ojo Caliente is near Santa Fe which has lots of great attractions. There are ones that are more secluded in the mountains as well.

Think about your dates? It will be summer time and beautiful any where you go! Hot springs is a little to hot in 90+ degrees. Maybe something like cave diving. There are some locations in Florida that do that, I think in Clearwater there are areas you can explore in clear blue waters. They are spread throughout the country. I would try to find some resort style vacation get away. We typically go to Estes Park, CO and go though RMNP because of the hiking and wildlife. There is also Grand Lake which is beautiful all year round. Just depends where you think your next adventure begins!

My fiance and I will be living in Ohio and getting married in December. We are planning on driving down to Lousiville! It's a short enough drive and we have a long list of places to eat and visit!

We're doing Disney/Universal in Orlando in January. We got married last month, but wanted to postpone and not do Florida when it's humidity and hurricane season. Also, January is a slow season for them.

I see a lot of people posting about NYC. This is where I live - know that July 4th in NYC is ... a lot like Florida. You will melt. (And urban heat island effect is a Thing.) Also, it's so expensive, even the chain restaurants charge you twice as much as the average. (Please don't come to NYC and eat at a chain restaurant, ask a local, we know better places, and are MORE than happy to rec them.)

You could always go out west for something relaxing and do a day trip to the Grand Canyon. A couple of years ago we did a train ride to the Grand Canyon with a bus tour which was pretty cool. The views were amazing on the way there and it was quite relaxing not having to do the driving for several hours. The train had a car in the back with food and drinks so that was also nice.

I have to agree 100% on this! NYC is sweltering in the summer. Its really gross. And yeah, no one should come to NY and eat at a chain restaurant. We have every ethnicity and price range to choose from. Personally I wouldn't find NYC relaxing. However a little further north is the Hudson Valley which is beautiful and lots to do there.
