Upset about engagement photos

So me and my fiance did our engagement photos and just got a few samples. We're both not happy with them. And we both look miserable in the pictures. The photographer didn't capture our happiness and I feel like I could've gotten someone with an iPhone and a photo app to take these same pictures....

Yes I'm in orlando. I actually have a few people who are willing to retake them for me because the pictures were so bad. The photographer said that she does an hour session and then makes "package deals" she sent five sample pictures and then said she chose 40 of the best shots and will give them to me for 200 dollars

You went the cheap route and that's what you got. You need to start dealing with professionals. Like I said, my e-photos are $375. My photographer is based out of South Florida. You can check him out. Google Stanlo Photography. THAT'S what high quality photos look like.

I'm in Orlando, and there are an absurd number of photogs here. I'm sorry your pics didn't turn out how you wanted, but there are lots of other options to use.

I've talked back and forth with her. Told her what I expected. And she gave me her price quote. Me and my fiancé both saw the work she advertised and said it looked great. Even our friends pictures came out great. Its not like I said "hey shes only charging 200 dollars lets book her". We looked at her work we asked how it was working with her. If we wanted to go the cheap route, I would've asked someone to take my pictures with their digital camera and pay them 20 bucks.

@minerva I was so stressed out yesterday but I spoke to a few local photographers and excited to say we're getting them redone.

Ugh, that sucks. I'm sorry! But at least you have some time to find a better photographer!

My engagement pics were $50 for a half hour session/20 shots. I'm pretty happy with them, especially for the price.

Yay happy you can get them redone. Speak up and tell funny jokes to each other. Enjoy!

Research professional photographers. They will have websites, readily available pricing, reviews, and portfolios. Meet with a few of your favorites, ask questions, and do your homework on them. You'll pay more but there's a much higher chance of them getting your wedding images done right the first time around. IMO you lucked out that you didn't pay yet and that these were your engagement images, not your wedding. At least you have time to research and save up! Best wishes Shanti.

I don't think price has anything to do with it. We paid $175 for a 45 minute session with our photographer, the pictures came out great. If she did a good job for other people, then I would see if she can redo them, but I would definitely not pay for something that I do not like.
