Upgrade Bridesmaid to Maid of Honor

Im not sure I would use the word "upgrade"...

You can have more than one MOH, but I think it would be weird to "upgrade" her after the fact.

No I don't have a MOH. The one I had asked said she couldn't because of financial issues.

So she's second choice? No I'd leave it.

If no one but the one you asked knows, I'd tell them you value all of their friendships and don't want to pick a favorite. That way they all know they're very special and close to your heart, but you don't make her feel like 2nd choice.

Yeah... I would just leave it how it is. It comes off as she is your 2nd choice because 1st said no.

I really don't think it matters what you call her... Everyone has the same role. Show up and wear a dress.

Yeah just say say hey I know I asked you to be my bridesmaid but will you be my maid of honor... and then explain what additional things are expected of her if she agrees... I had to do the same thing... but in my case the only requirement that she stand a little closer to me so that was easy lol

Also please look at your expectation regarding financial investments for your WP. They are only obligated to purchase a dress. Same with MOH. These are honour positions for them, not a servant group.

I have to agree that you should just leave things the way they are. She'll seem like second choice if you ask her now.

Disagree with Kelsey. There shouldn't be any EXTRA expectations of any wedding party member

I was the MOH in a wedding, and I was the only bridesmaid. Don't feel pressured to have a huge WP, or even to have a MOH. As of now my FH and I aren't even planning to have a WP at all
