The salon that i'm getting my hair and make up done charges $85 for an updo! I have 8 women in the wedding who want to get their hair done however $85 is pricey even for NY! most of the girls r coming from out of town and are already spending so much to be with me on this day... is it rude/ not ok to ask the salon if they can lower the price so we can all go to the same salon? or else I have to find somewhere else for them to go while I stay at this salon because i have worked with this stylist for several years! advise please!! Thanks )

Ask them if they will do a group rate. Most places will give you a discount if you have at least 6 other people getting their hair/ makeup done at the same time.

$85 is definitely the average price where I live, which is central NJ. The first salon I was considering costs $85 for my trial, $85 for each BM, and $125 for me on the day of. However.....I DO think $85 is a bit much to ask of bridesmaids. For us it's understandable because, you know, it's the most important day of our lives, but not so much for them. I would definitely ask if they can offer you a group rate in order to secure the business of 8 more people. Because there are so many girls, they might. I decided not to go with the pricier salon and am scheduling a $50 trial with my mom's hairdresser who will travel to our house for a little bit less.

Ya I think it's pretty standard to have a lower rate for BMs, it can't hurt to ask, plus as Stephanie said you are having a lot of girls!

When I was BM, it cost me $100 for hair and makeup. They traveled to the house we where were getting ready.
