*UPDATE* Wedding Disaster - What to do now?

Okay...so I have been putting off dealing with this while we were on our honeymoon but we are on headed home and now is time to deal with it. Our wedding was a disaster. So bad that this week I will be personally calling guests to appologize for their experience. I picked an all inclusive venue (they did catering, flowers, and decorations). I went to their visit day where we tasted the foods and saw the whole set up so we could decide what we wanted. I was so excited to be having this dream wedding until we showed up to the wedding. We had the venue starting at 2:30 and the wedding was at 7. Everything was supposed to be set up when we arrived. So we all got ready and when we arrived at the venue at 2:30 for pictures nothing was decorated or set up. About 20% of the decorations were up and none of them were complete. It was all a little decor here and some there but nothing was done. The pool was dirty and had not been cleaned (they told us at the rehearsal that it would be cleaned)...

Thanks, everyone! I am going Tuesday to meet with them because some of my things got left behind in all the chaos...I am sure you can imagine my actual horror when I look over DH's shoulder during the first dance and see all the tables full and 30 people standing. My photographer came and told me that I had to smile and let it go for then because me being upset was showing in the pictures...I can't imagine what they will look like.

I'm one of the least sue-happy people you'd ever meet...but damn...they ruined your wedding. They should refund whatever you paid for and didn't get...and then some since they didn't do any of things they said they would. Honestly, if you have documentation (signed agreement and photos) I would take it to court...especially if they won't refund you your money. I'm really sorry this happened to you...on a brighter note: Congratulations on being married to your best friend. <3

Oh my goodness, wow.. I am so sorry. Did you document the dirty, wrinkled tablecloths, the wrong colored curtains, etc? I would go through my invoice and highlight all of the things that you paid for that they either did not provide or provided but it was half assed. Then I would let them know that you want compensation and back it up with your evidence that they did not provide what they said they would.

How much did you pay in total, if you don't mind me asking?

Our wedding cost about $20k. We put every single cent of spare money we had into this wedding and that is the frustrating part. We do have documentation of all the screwed up stuff...even my photog took pics of it because it was so bad...

Honestly, I would seek legal advice. I'm sorry for the way everything turned out but hopefully you can leave lots of bad reviews in the meantime to prevent other brides from going through this.

Well they lost several customers. Several of our wedding party and guests have recently got engaged and were interested in using them because they were all inclusive. All of them are like "hell nah" now. I am going to blast them in the reviews but I am going to keep it completely factual and not opinionated so they can't throw anything back on me.

@Lucille thank you, I might bump this tomorrow and Tuesday to see if there is anyone willing to offer some advice...hopefully they will give me at least the money back for what they failed on.

Definitely tell them your concerns and demand some sort of reimbursement. Totally unacceptable! My concerns would be heard full throttle. So sorry this had happened to you..,.

Oh wow that's horrific. I would ask for a total refund, and see how much they give you back if anything. I would demand to speak to the highest person in their office in order to get results and I would raise hell until you got what you deserve

I don't even know what to say. I agree with Lucille about popping into chat but if it gets busy maybe make a new thread and ask for lawyer advice. I am not even sure what type of Lawyer would handle a case like this. I hope you have pictures of the disaster so that you can show some evidence and not have it be hear day. Maybe call your photographer and ask for some earlier untouch pics that you could use as support. I have a feeling though your venue already knows how messed up they made your event.

My heart just broke reading this. I am so sorry, so terribly sorry; there's nothing I can say that's going to make this better.

Post reviews; factual, not emotional, as has already been said by others.

When you meet with them, go over everything point by point, and bring the receipts to back yourself up.

I'd definitely ask if it would be wise to consult a lawyer if they're not going to do anything to fix a special day that they broke.

I just...I have no words. I hope they finally do right by you, OP.

I also second what Lucille said about maybe doing a vow renewal down the road.

But for now, I hope things get better. I just can't even imagine.

My wedding planner (who was assigned through them and was the only good thing that came from them) was apologizing profusely...she was so embarrassed

Holy crap on a cracker!!!!! I have now words other than go after them to get your money back. That is BEYOND crappy service. Get your local news involved if you need to. A story like this would prevent other brides from going through this.

I'm sorry that happened to you. That is complete bullshit. The pp's basically covered all of the advice I have. You are definitely in the right to ask for a refund. Also provide the pictures that your photog took of all the screw ups.

    I'm so, so sorry.

I'd ask for 100% of my money back. This is absolutely awful.

Congratulations on being married though! How was the honeymoon?

Really sorry for your experience. So terrible! I think you should ask for every penny back. You can't redo your wedding and they really lied to you. A lot of non professionalism and safety hazards too! I think this just proves that vendors and professionals can be disastrous too.
