Let’s talk Wedding Day Photographers, Soooo you know if I’m in the forum I am here to discuss vendors... or something has went terribly wrong or exceptionally well...

What do you do when you finally have a shoot with your BOOKED wedding photographer and the photos are horrible!? I call it practice but not practice... he did our engagement Photos...
They are horrible!!! Luckily but not luckily we have time to book another one. We have already paid 50% of the $3200... and want to cancel so badly. We can’t redo the wedding and I feel like I would lose my mind if those pics were anything like the engagement photos.
So we had tried to talk to him about it and explain that we are darker than his normal clientele so you can’t do the same things with us. He was offended that I am not letting him be an artist.
He was so rude and unprofessional and I’m so afraid at this point. I think we should take that loss and cancel. But geeesh $1600 in the toilet and only One decent photo. My hair was out of place. Engagement pics but my ring was hidden or turned. I had my forgetter my tag on my dress. He didn’t notice until halfway through the shoot. A whole mess.

Check out the messages. I’m blue he is gray for non- iphone users lol. 1.5 hrs shoot including wardrobe changes with only 2 half decent photos. None edited he just put a light filter on top.

This was the email I received from him at like midnight that day I said I didn’t like the pics. No offer to reshoot just to let us know he will not be returning any money. But he attitude in these emails were enough.

I really feel like he did not know what to do with our skin.... I am darker than my FH but NOT this dark and he is not dark at all... in the pic he was even fed up.., this was one of the pics You could see the ring.... and btw look how dark this pic was when we are sitting on the steps OUTSIDE at 2 in the afternoon... why so dark... he gone say he offended though 🙄🙄🙄

My feelings were hurt... like he was going in between trying to figure out how to lighten our darken us to match his style. No sir!

Girl we asked. We not even on social media. Had to create an account to see them. Crazy thing is I didn’t think our skin mattered with photography. But sheesh

Get a new photographer! Even if he fixes the photos there will be tension there on your special day. Find someone who you trust and get along with. Suck up the lost $$. It will be worth it in the end if you have someone you feel comfortable with on your big day.

I hope you're able to find a new photographer! I agree with PP that even if he were to fix the photos exactly to your liking, you still need to mesh well with your photographer and you don't want any underlying tension. Best of luck

Omg the photos he took look like they were taken on an old phone or those 2004 movie cams. I'm so sorry this happened to you. He seems so unprofessional with how he responded to your concerns. I hope you find a better photographer with better equipment and taste for editing taking into consideration colors and lighting.

Hanna definitely agree with everyone... I was so shocked by his lack of professionalism. Like this is definitely important.

Something similar happened to me. We had horrible photos despite having the ideal
Backdrop in a great city. Like you zero engagement ring photos and it was in the middle of summer so 90 degree heat and my hair was a mess. My fiancé looked amazing, me not so much. We lost our deposit and I canceled without hesitation and went with a different photographer with a better portfolio. This is your day. Take the hit and move on. You definitely need to cancel. I'm not crazy about photos so it wasn't on my top priority list. However it your wedding and like you said you can't do a redo of the wedding. You will forever be looking at those horrible photos to remind you of your wedding. You don't want to have a constant reminder that you should have gone with someone better. Go with your gut instincts and get someone better.

First of all you're very pretty and I love your makeup. I do see what you mean now. 😬 1600 is alot of money, but I would definitely be looking elsewhere. I'm blk and so is my photographer. While I liked the pics...I HATED how he didn't tell me to fix my cloths(because they looked disheveled). Like my sash to my skirt isnt tied!! When I said something he offered to redo them...NOW, I have to try to convince my fiancé to do another photoshoot🥴

You and your fiance are so cute together! The red dress against your skin tone looks amazing in your selfie shot and that should have definitely shown through in the photos taken by the photographer. And the photog seems to be more concerned about letting you know how hurt he was that you didn't like the pics instead of apologizing and offering to fix it. He turned himself into a victim. No offer to reshoot or give at least a partial refund? Let him go, get another photographer that has an extensive gallery of amazing pics of people of all different skin tones, and I would even suggest doing another engagement shoot if you can. A lot of wedding photography packages have the engagement shoot included in the fees. I'm sorry you have to eat that 1600.00 but you can't do your wedding day over so I am so glad you are looking for another photographer. Good luck to you!
