Yes, my venue cancelled on me with only a 5 person wedding.
Yesterday my venue abruptly cancelled all weddings. It has been in operation for 30 years and I adore those who work at the venue. The letter I received was polite, but it did state that weddings being what they are, they will only open when unmasked weddings are allowed. *Note: Any bride not practicing social distancing and masks risks that venue being closed for those who follow you. The business can't take the risk and allowing a mask free event is exactly that. Vendors are getting tired of saying no and hoping that a bride honors the guidelines. If they believe that you won't follow the guidelines - they will cancel more than just your wedding. They will cancel weddings like mine. Please stop with the anti-mask but it's my wedding argument. Wear masks so that we can all get married. And remember public places can be shut down too. Please, please, follow the guidelines.
Spoke to FH after we received the note. We're trying to reschedule for a public park. We are hoping the guys can still get tuxes or suits - we have an order at MW. And I'm hoping to find a dress that doesn't need alterations. Yes, a wedding dress without alterations. The good news is that I am an off the rack size. I'm looking at high low dresses so I can avoid the hem. The photographer and florist have agreed to a penalty free switch - we moved the date by a few days (the 28th of Sept is our last stand).
I ordered the pink high low yesterday from Nordstrom's. I'll order the high low from DB today. I just have to figure out white or ivory. I look better in white but my accessories are in ivory (veil and shoes) because my "the one" dress that I can't wear (too costly alterations and not for an outside venue) is ivory. I prefer white... It's just a choice to be redone like all the other choices in this adventure.
I, though, cannot keep doing this. It's affecting me too much to be hopeful and then have it crash down. Hopefully, I'm more stubborn than the virus and we'll make this happen.
