**UPDATE IN COMMENTS** Shapewear for thin girls....

Mrs. G, on July 14, 2014 at 4:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

Hey everyone! I've been a little MIA lately because work has been crazzzzzy! But now the wedding is just around the corner! I tried my dress on last week and I still wish it sucked me in a little more around the middle! I am a thin girl (5'4", 120 lbs) but I still have a bit of a pooch on my lower tummy area. I tried on some shapewear at Macy's over the weekend but I didn't feel like anything sucked me in enough... Does anyone have suggestions on shapewear that is good for smaller sizes? I have a mermaid/trumpet dress so the seams can't be really obvious. I was thinking of a short-shorts style with the tummy part that goes right under the bust. Any suggestions?

    Following...

I am in the same boat as you... damn that pooch!!!

I keep hearing spanx and rago works wonders. I have never worn them, I am just worried that I will get overheated with some form of shapewear, petticoat, and a tight dress...

I saw your post too andeejai! I'm not doing the petticoat though. I'm worried about being too hot too! I was sweating just trying on my dress last week! And outdoor wedding in August is going to be a warm one for sure! Thank goodness our reception is in an A/C ballroom :-)

I am doing exactly what you described- seamless, nude shorts that have a panel that goes just under the bust. They are actually pretty comfortable and just help to smooth everything out a bit. I am a size 4 for reference and I found it at Macy's.

Did you really feel like it sucked you in @Wendy? I tried on two pairs and i felt like neither one did anything! What size did you get? I tried on a Small (the smallest size they had)....wonder if there's an XS? Glad I'm not the only one....thought I was being vain! But hey, we all wanna look our best!!

I'm assuming I may just need a midsection piece that does not roll down, just to suck in my tummy some more.

Geez, men have it so easy lol

Mine is a size small and I probably could have went down to the XS for a more snug fit but I think I would have been in pain all day, lol.

Haha ok! I'm hoping they make XS lol!! I'll take a little pain for a flat tummy! Plus I'm pmsing (and will be for the wedding) so any extra de-bloating help I can find, I will take!!

I am also in this boat. That damn pooch! I have found that any thing that REALLY pulls you in in the tummy also is so thick around the bum and thighs, which I dont want as I am concerned about being hot.

I emailed Spanx and they recommended the slimplicity girl short, so I might order this. http://www.spanx.com/shop/spanx/slimplicity-girl-short-zid38-MS393/cat-38-catid-tab_spx_brand?CategoryDomainName=SPXNA-38&var_id=38-843953041269&_t=pfm%3Dsearch

Also FYI I already got a few styles delivered but they were no good. These were really thin, but didnt suck the pooch in AT ALL:

    http://www.spanx.com/shop/spanx/skinny-britches-mid-thigh-zid38-2125/cat-38-catid-tab_spx_brand?CategoryDomainName=SPXNA-38&var_id=38-843953202882&_t=pfm%3Dsearch

And these were good around the tummy, took 2 inches off, but cut in a little too high on the thigh/bum so I had VPL as my dress is fitted in this area.

It seems to be just as hard to find suitable spanx as it was to find the dress!

Bleh....didn't even think about going to the bathroom!!!!! I'm eyeing these

but I'm worried I'd want an XS which they don't carry in that style. The shorts are short enough maybe they could be pulled to one side?? Or maybe I'll just hold it hahaha!

I used Spanx Boostie-Yay! Comfy Corset. It was the best for the pooch area (that's all I had). It fit nice under the dress (seamless). They also unbuttoned a few of the hooks because my dress is so low in the back and it still held me in. Its expensive, but I can't recommend it enough. I even wear it underneath my more tight fitting dresses (get my money's worth!).

I went to the mall and was able to try it on - I bought mine at Dillards.

I got mine at Victoria's Secret. A little more expensive, but a little thicker yet more breathable. Goes down right above my knees and up to below my chest, smooths everything nicely I think with support.

Ok well I am quite a bit bigger than you but I find spanx work so well, and when you sit or squat to pee there is a panel that opens up and ta-da you don't need to take it down to pee!

I was going to wear a Felina Corset Bra but then when I tried it on with my dress it honestly added too much extra fabric! I was so surprised. Make sure to try it on with your dress. I'm not wearing anything now except a VS lacie thong and cups sewn into my dress! Lol. I am kind of disappointed I can't wear the corset tho because it really pushed up my small boobs! Haha. Oh well.

I'm 5'4 130 pounds and I have that issue as well. I wear spanx, i am not sure which ones they are exactly but they work WONDERS. i wear them anytime i have a dress or skirt or tight shirt on. I have higher hips so i pull them up as far as i can and they sit perfectly in my curves. sometimes they ride up a bit but nothing to crazy.
