Unplugged wedding..

Dana, on September 2, 2019 at 10:37 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 14
Is it worth putting up a sign that we're "unplugged " or should I just have the officiant announce it?
Both?

Daughter did both AND spread the word ahead of time how important this was to she and H. Early on, we got some push back (e.g., "just how are you going to stop me?!?!?") to which we responded "since this is so important to the B&G, we'd hope people who love them will abide by their wishes...." As near as we can tell from the professional photos and video, they had 100% compliance.

My brother is officiating so we're going to ask him to make an announcement. But, I've been to some wedding where there were some really cute signs politely saying to not have out your phone. If you do a sign, I would suggest announcing as well just in the event anyone didn't see it!

Do both!! For whatever reason this is something that seems to go in one ear and out the other, so people need to be reminded a few times in a few different ways of the couples wishes.

Doing both is totally fine, but having your officiant announce it before the ceremony definitely helps!

We didn't have any signage, but our DJ/Emcee playing the ceremony music made an announcement. For those who asked, we just spread through word-of-mouth that we didn't mind so long as they were discreet with their phones. Our professional photos did not have any pictures of guests with their phones out, thankfully.

We are doing both. I also have an FB page for the guests to ask questions (so I dont answer the same question 10 times) and I've announced it there.

I only have 20 people coming and I've told everyone that it's a phones down event. Nobody's protested so... but with a larger ceremony I'd probably do both.
