Unlit tapered candles vs Led?

Camryn, on February 1, 2020 at 10:23 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5
I am worried about tapered candles being a fire hazard. I don’t know if my venue doesn’t allow open flame, there’s nothing in our contract but I am nervous about tapered candles being too risky. I will have glass votive candles at each table that will be lit. I’m planning on mixing brass tapered candles with bud vases and vintage glass candles. I have seen unlit tapered candles that look pretty but I am having an evening outdoor wedding. Would unlit tapered candles look better than led tapered candles? I have found some on amazon that have a wax coating for a more reasonable price. Glass sleeves are too pricey, so I do not want to consider those.

The price is also something I need to consider—unlit tapers would be much cheaper but I don’t know if leds would be worth it

I would ask your venue what their policy is. No need to spend more on leg candles if you can do regular ones, and no need to buy regular ones if you can’t use them. Our venue also didn’t list it so I emailed our main contact and she let us know we can do real ones as long as they weren’t exposed (I.e. taper vs in a jar)

I am not necessarily worried about what my venue prefers because no matter what I will be nervous with a bunch of exposed flames at every table so I’d like to either do unlit tapered or led tapers
just to reduce the risk that someone accidentally starts a fire and to avoid the mess of dripping wax.

Hey there, Camryn! As the wedding is in the evening and outdoors, I feel like it would be nice to have some light from the candles for ambience. If you feel like you will be worried the whole time about the exposed flame, it may be best to look into LED tapered candles. I see there are a bunch on Amazon for sale! You could always test these ahead of the big day in mock centrepieces and make a decision.

This is a hard question!! I know the feeling of having a vision and really wanting something to work. But being conscious of cost, and taking into consideration that it will be an outdoor event, I would say to go with the LED candles. It just makes more sense. You don’t wanna be stressed out about a fire, you don’t really have to spend the money on something that you won’t use, and you’ll be able to set the mood with the light.
