Unity ceremony ideas

Amy, on May 31, 2021 at 10:06 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5
My fiancé and I are thinking of unity ceremony ideas and he is a carpenter and built our house himself. We were thinking of having him build something and then we could put the last nail in together during our ceremony. Any ideas on what we could build for that?? We were thinking something small enough that could be able to be done at the ceremony, but we can’t think of what!

I would ask him what he can build on about 5 minutes, maybe 10 tops. Otherwise, can he pre-make some pieces that can be assembled in about 5-10 minutes? Because watching someone build something for longer than that may feel very drawn out for guests. In all honesty, the ceremony in and of itself is a unity ceremony, so don't feel pressured to add extra. Maybe you can incorporate his carpentry skills some other way, like maybe you 2 can build a bench together and guests can sign that as a guest book?

Yeah definitely! We were planning on having it 99% built and just adding the last piece, hammering the last nail, something small like that at the actual ceremony. We already have a guest book but that is a good idea!

Bird house that looks like your house!

I'd have the nail halfway hammered in, so it just needs a few more hits

If you are a Christian couple, you can build a unity cross at your ceremony. Your fiance puts the vertical piece on the backboard. You place the horizontal piece. You both place the nail in the center together. There is an explanation for each piece on the website for the officiant to explain during the ceremony. We had to buy it from the website, but it would be more meaningful if your husband made the unity cross himself!! Unity ceremony ideas 1
