Unique ways to honor a friend who isn't in the bridal party?

Courtney, on January 22, 2020 at 10:48 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8

Hello hive mind!
Let me give a little bit of info here as to why this is such a predicament.

My hubby to be and I have a very dear friend that we would like to honor in the wedding in some way, as he isn't in the wedding party.
However, due to requests by both sides of the family positions like: Gifts, Readings, Programs and Ushers are filled.

Please help us think of a unique way to honor this friend. He's only been in our lives a short time but he's a wonderful person and we don't want to leave him out!.

Do you have an officiant? He could get ordained online. You could also invite him to give a speech at the reception if you don't already have a ton of those, or ask him to lead a game or activity during the reception.

Other than asking him to do a speech I can't think of anything other way. Why can't he be a groomsman? You don't have to have the same number on each side.

Why don’t you just put him in the wedding party?

I have a couple of these people in my life as well and we're trying to not add add add to the wedding party. I have one friend giving a speech at our meet and greet the night before (destination wedding, no rehearsal) and I'm also just inviting my close pals to spend the day getting ready together so I have their energy around me all day. I have another friend walking my mom down the aisle since Pops will be with me. Hope some of this helps! Smiley heart

The wedding party is way bigger than we wanted it to be as it is.

That is brilliant! Maybe what we could do is have him give a speech at the rehearsal dinner and then give him a boutonniere too!!

I agree with Mallory. Maybe ask him to give a speech at the rehearsal dinner or even at the wedding reception. Maybe ask him to spend the morning of the wedding and the entire "getting ready" process with either you our your FH. That way he also feels included.
