Unique Unity Ceremony Ideas?

HappilyHauser, on August 3, 2017 at 12:09 AM

I am struggling to come up with a unity ceremony idea that feels right. I don't want to do anything too involved (such as planting a tree) but a sand ceremony feels too overdone and bland. I want to find something unique! What did you do/are you planning to do??

We are doing the wine box/love letter thing - each of us writing notes about our love and throwing it in a box with wine to drink on our first anniversary. We plan to seal the box with new letters and new wine each year.

I think we are going to do the fisherman's knot thing since we are both avid fishers.

We plan on having a tree planting ceremony. Though I'm tossing the idea of using an Herb to plant rather then a tree, since we both love to cook.

I saw a BAM on here where the couple did a spice blend unity ceremony!

A salt covenant is great, especially for people who love to cook.

We are doing a unity glass ceremony. It's like a sand ceremony but you pour in glass beads and send it off to an artist and they blow it into a vase that can be kept forever.

Unity tree! We got several complements on it. It fit us and the venue, though.

We made it simple though, I found a script online, we had a jar of dirt from his parents, a jar from mine, and a jar of water, so we didn't actually "plant" it, just poured in additional dirt.

We're doing a lot of handfastings and tequila sharings and glass pourings this year. (Our glass blowing ceremony involves the couple actually blowing their own glass on their anniversary...)

We do a lot of the Wine and Words box (that's what we call it) .

You can really make a unity ceremony out of anything that is important to you or has a part of your story. We've done sushi sharings, Manhattan mixings, Black and Tan pourings, chocolate rituals.

If you have a good officiant they can find or create something for you.

You can do the unity sand, pick the color of your wedding and your and the groom will pour each color into one vase, blending the two colors together

We're doing a beer unity ceremony. Mixing reds apple ale (my sweet) and a stout (FH hasn't picked one to match his character yet) but basically making a black an tan to share.

We are doing the blessing stone ceremony OP mentioned! I think it's great and will allow us to keep something meaningful in our home after the wedding.
