Unique Start to the Day!!

AB, on March 30, 2021 at 5:35 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 26

Hey folks! First time poster here! I want to hear the unique start to your wedding day! Will you have a bridal bruncheon, special moments with your FH, maybe walk your dog? Is there anything you won't compromise on? We only have one thing FH and I won't give up on, even if it means waking up extra early for it..

Nate and I are planning on waking up early, saddling some horses and going for a quick ride! He is a farrier and I went to college for equine management and am a riding instructor during the summer (Wyoming winters can be intense!). I can't imagine my wedding day starting without this, it is very US. If we have to wake up before the crack of dawn, we can't imagine calming our nerves any other way besides loping through fields together! In the beginning we packed horses together at a kids camp and a hunting lodge, so anyone who knows us understands this is who we are!

Can't wait to hear your unique morning! Smiley smile -AB

My wedding is at 1PM so I do have to get ready kind of early but I really want to have a nice breakfast with my girls at my house before getting ready just to chill and relax and make sure we are all well fed before hand! I love the idea of just kind of relaxing with the girls with no stress of having to rush or anything

You aren't kidding about Wyoming winters. I think it was Cheyenne that got 31+ inches of snow recently. Crazy!

My daughter and I are going to spend the night with snacks and watching girly movies (a house packed with boys we don't get that very often). Then in the morning my best friend and her daughter (who is my daughter's beat friend!) are coming by before everyone else to have a best friend breakfast.

When I was a kid it was always special to schedule “walks on the beach with Grandmother” on our family vacations. So in honor of her we are having a “walk on the beach with Bride and Groom (and our dog to get out the zooms)” the morning of the wedding that all guests who want to wake up that early are invited to—I think it will really help relax us

That sounds lovely - so restful!

The only thing I am 100% doing is getting up and going for coffee. I LOVE coffee, especially latte art, and going and sitting in a cafe by myself for 20 minutes with a beautiful latte, looking around and knowing no one knows it's my wedding day except me... Exciting!

Thing is, the hair and makeup ladies are due pretty early so I am worried I won't get my moment! But someone will go and fetch some for me I'm sure (although take away just isn't the same Smiley sad )

That sounds like a dream! Horses have such a special calming, healing energy. The perfect way to start off a nerve-wracking day!
Our wedding day “odd start” is actually the day before. Our venue is a large group campground so our family and closest friends will be joining us at the venue the night before for a campout.

My personal odd plan is to drug myself early-ish the night before, after spending some time with everyone, with NyQuil or something similar so I can force myself to sleep through the excitement and nerves 😂 Ive done this regularly for early flights or big tests because I really value my sleep but my mind doesn’t allow for that lol

I spent the night at home with my dog and had coffee with him the morning of the wedding. I had about 2 hours before hair / makeup and my girls got to my house to relax. I wouldn't have done it any other way.

    1. You mention an animal, you gotta post a picture of that animal. Let us see the horsies!!

    2. We lived together, but we slept apart the night before. I'm NOT a morning person, but I somehow roused myself before 11AM, had breakfast, and then walked to where my parents were staying. It happened to be Pride in my city that day, so I got to walk through a big, fun festival, picked up a Pride flag (which I stuck in my hair), and picked up the happy vibes.

    3. Had a nibble with my parents, did the very last minute things, and hopped into the limo with them, my MOH, and my dress at 1PM.

    4. When I got to the venue, the rest of my BP was already there and halfway ready, so I got my HMU done. A friend of mine who is a professional HMUA did me, and her husband played errand boy for us, because he is the kind of guy who will give you the shirt off his back.

    5. Said errand boy wouldn't let my parents go get the pizza we planned to have, he happily delivered it FOR us... AND THEN WOULDN'T TAKE A PIECE. Silly man. But we had a pizza party before the ceremony.

    6. Finished MU, got into dress, got married.

I love early walks on the beach, what a great way to honor your grandmother and be able to feel connected to her.

Oo I may have to do the same thing with NyQuil, when anything exciting happens FH and I can never sleep through the night! We will be getting hitched at a lodge in the mountains (no electricity, phone service) so we will head up the night before too! You sound like my kinda person haha, we are doing a cookout the night before too Smiley smile

That sounds nice too!! I am sure at some point throughout the day I will think "I should've slept in a little!" but I know it will be so worth it!

The horse ride sounds so amazing and relaxing! My FH and I have decided that we want to have our usual sleeping arrangements so we are both fairly rested the next day, but I have to wake up much earlier than he does because we are all going to my mom's house to get ready and they're coming for 8:30 am. My FH's sister is going to drive me to my mom's house because he is using my car to get his guys up to the venue (and so we have a way home), so I'm really looking forward to having those special few moments with just her before we start getting ready. I'm hoping to have a nice relaxing day at my mom's while we get ready, although I'm sure something will pop up to make it not COMPLETELY smooth.

    1. Oh gosh, not sure how to add pics yet!! But I have a colt who will be ready by our wedding with 60 days of riding on him (college friend and I made a deal on her first colt out of her mare!) and he is a BEAUTIFUL palomino!! Sold my thoroughbred and am planning on picking up a few ranch horses this summer.

    2. What an awesome start to the day!! My hair stylist since I was in high school is doing my hair, and my MOH's hubby will be our errand boy (but he won't be going down the mountain as there are dirt roads and not enough time forsure!) A pizza party sounds sooo good, we are hoping to do a late night pizza snack from my favorite pizza place in town.

    3. Sounds like you had an AWESOME wedding, which is all anyone can ask for!!

I hope you get all the time you want and need with your mom!! My mom is my best friend and I'm hoping to get a few moments with just us too! I am planning on something crazy to happen, I have decided it will all be okay, we will laugh about it later! Last wedding I was in (MOH) the best man didn't show up, FH had to give away his shirt (literally!) and cowboy hat to the bride's brother to be a groomsman! It was too late to go down the mountain and get more supplies, we all laugh about it now Smiley smile

To add photos, go to the top of the list you are making.
There should be a little square icon with little mountains in it.

    Click.
It should open up your files!

That sounds like so much fun and a perfect start to your dream wedding day.

I run every day. I've run a mile every day without fail since Nov 2, 2014. So I know I'll start my day with a run, soaking in the weather and the venue, and simultaneously getting excited and calming my nerves about the rest of the day to come.
