Unique Reception Entrances

We are throwing around this: not our entire party but FH & I are being announced like MMA fighters - I trained for years and he has become a fan. I am still not sold on it, but he wants to do something a little different.

I would love to do a group dance, but I'm not certain about subjecting my party to it. Lol

Hahaha no, no fighting : just be announce like they introduce the fighters at an MMA fight. Our MC will do it, we will just be walking in, I don't plan on fighting with him THAT day lol.

I think I am too shy and introverted for any kind of entrance. I don’t think we will be doing this as everything is in the same area.

Not looking to do anything out of the box, but both FH and I are extremely geeky so we're going to use "The Power of Love" from Back to the Future for our introduction song

I'm going to be honest, your FH's idea sounds juuuust a bit like the beginning of a heist movie. When you say power wheels, do you mean the little kid cars? I'm not sure how easy/comfortable that would be. I'm sorry if I'm being a party pooper, lol.

Can you share some details about your wedding for ideas? Venue, style, etc. Really, sometimes just the attitude walking in with a funny song could be plenty to kick-off the reception.

Sorry to anyone who's tired of seeing my pics... we had a pirate reception and during cocktail hour dashed out to change clothes. We marched back in while guests howled (and banged on the dinner tables), then gave a speech in French/English about why we were there--because we ransacked a ship and were there to celebrate & drink. Interrupted by Cap'tn Jack demanding rum, accordionist broke out into song, everyone danced. So sad no budget for videographer.

Tell us about your wedding and we'll see what else we can come up with for you.

My FH works in the sports field so we are being introduced like a "team" with the Chicago Bull's intro music. Think of it like this: "Standing in as maid of honor, daughter of the bride...*insert name here* and "coming in at a combined 10 ft. 9 inches tall, for the first time ever...Mr. and Mrs. Thomas...", etc. All of our party will be introduced this way and there's 5 of us (2 on my side, 2 grooms side, and us combined).

We are planning to be introduced, then we are singing (along with the song) “Can I have this dance” from High School Musical, walking around the reception room and we are going to meet on the dance floor for our first dance “From the ground up” by Dan and Shay.

I agree the presidential masks and all are creepy (no offense to him), and definitely might be too political. Power wheels might get pricey and could be difficult to get in and out of (especially with the dress on, I'd be worried about getting it dirty, unless you're changing). Definitely tell us more about your theme and venue and all so we can come up with fitting ideas.

I'm in that boat with you though OP! I'm still trying to figure out a nerdy way for our intro that isn't overdone (lightsabers for example) or too obscure. We're doing a nerdy art deco theme. My first thought was actually to have our DJ do our intro as a customized Star Trek TNG-esque monologue (yes with the music in the background) i.e the starting monologue to the show. I did one on our website, so it would be fitting. But it might come off as cheesy.

Ooh. Then a lux & glam entrance. What about any of these:

* Entrance where sparkly confetti or rose petals drop on you?

* Surprise musicians who start playing when you enter (a funny or romantic song)?

* If you have uplights or spotlights, can the lighting be changed as you enter and the DJ play something cool? Or perhaps your entrance starts regal but you guys make your way to the dance floor for the 1st dance and as soon as you start a romantic slow dance the DJ mixes it up and plays something you freestyle to and invite guests to join in and kick off the party?

Just a few ideas!
