Unhappy with figure

Is anyone going into their wedding unhappy with their figure? And if so, are you planning to work out/do a cleanse etc...? I'm just going to throw it out there that I am really unhappy with mine. I'm just going to throw it out there that I am really unhappy with mine. I gained quite a bit of weight in the past two years while taking care of my sick mom and working three jobs. I didn't want to put off getting married until I could look my best, so I'm planning on just trying to exercise a lot before the wedding, but it's still stressing me out.

Am I in this boat alone?

We are never going to be happy with our bodies. We compare ourselves to the woman on TV and magazines that have been airbrushed. Our men love us just the way we are. That is the true thing we all need to focus on. Healthy eating and working out for our health is wonderful. Please ladies remember we are all perfect just the way we are. Each of you are beautiful. If you don't believe it look into your man's eyes. It is there.

I'm not happy with mine. The fiance and I have started going to the gym together almost every night after work and eating better. We are each others motivation! We already feel a difference and it's only been a little over a week. Try lots of proteins (boiled eggs, greek yogurt, turkey/chicken). It doesn't have to be a dramatic change right away either! Just make simple changes and ease into it. Good luck! Smiley smile

I'm with the rest of you. I hate the way my arms look in pictures and I'm tired of sucking my gut in. I've been trying to workout everyday, my moh and I bought a groupon for boxing our trial is over Saturday. Now Friupon has 1 for pole dancing.

Dont forget that diet is 80% of weight loss or gain. Eat well, cut out mindless snacking and limit alcohol. I used to drink 1-3 glasses of red wine every night, since I cut that out Ive dropped almost 10lb without even thinking. Good luck you can do it!

Thanks ladies! I feel a lot better reading your comments. I'll try to give myself more love but at the same time try to lose weight healthfully. The standing at work is an awesome idea! I may have to force myself to stand more at work, since I sit so often.

This has been a lifelong struggle for me. What helps me feel better about the way i feel about my body: I spent most of 2012 in pain every day due to a chronic illness. Every friggin' day. Putting anything in my mouth literally made my stomach go into clenching spasms for hours. I was living on Ensure shakes for weeks at a time. I had no energy, and would literally take phone calls for work while lying on my couch, drained. Eventually they found a treatment and I got well - but my metabolism was totally jacked. I gained 30 pounds fast, and I was miserable about the way I look - BUT i am not in pain.

I am not saying that you shouldn't want to lose weight, but I want you to not just love yourself, but to be able to enjoy your wedding. I am not thrilled to be at my heaviest weight ever when I am getting married, and I'm going to the gym and changing some of my eating habits.... but every day I look in the mirror, and I am so grateful that I am not in pain, and that is a really good day.

Not sure if this helps, but maybe there's something that you can also use as a kindof mantra that helps you stay positive while you're on your journey to get healthy.

Most important, though, is not spending your wedding day worrying about what the photos will look like... Happy is the most beautiful look on any woman!

I definitely don't think you are alone. I lost 20 pounds the 4 months before my wedding. I've yo-yo'd and struggled with my weight ever since college so it was important to me to feel my best on my wedding - and sexy in bikinis on my honeymoon! some people will tell you not to try to change yourself, sorry, i say BS to that. If you want to have a healthier, sexier you for your wedding then do it! It will mainly be your diet but strength training is so important too. don't do cardio too much. I had a trainer at my gym once a week for a full 12 months before the wedding, but my body didn't change until I really focused and changed my diet 4 months out. I think the last few months are what matter the most since whatever you may lose a year before you could always gain back. I posted a while back called 'wedding diet tips' what i did exactly.

I'm not happy with my figure either, but FH loves me for who I am including my love handles and honestly I'm going to wear a dress that fits my body type, so no... I'm not overly trying to become thin or tone. I mean, I'm trying to exercise more for my health but not necessarily to loose weight...that'll just be an added perk Smiley smile

Sierra, I just had my wedding, and I wish I had done something, anything. I had gained so much weight since being engaged. Even if you only have time for stretching, or walking around the block. These will be your pictures forever. I look at my wedding pictures...and think "holy crap that is not me". But it is me...and If I could turn back the clock, and give myself 2 months, I would. Even if you don't lose a pound...exercise will help you be in the wonderful happy frame of mind that this day means.

Plus everyone else had lost weight for my wedding...except me. So everyone else looked fabulous. But it was a little annoying hearing how great everyone else looked (snark attack) Smiley sad

I'm always working on my weight- I seem to gain it easily. Ultimately, I did gain more leading up to my wedding, and it's been easier (with more time and less wedding events that include lots of food) to lose after the wedding.

I ultimately decided that my husband loves me for who I am, never comments on my weight, and that it will only be natural that I lose and gain throughout my lifetime. If I choose to focus so heavily on this, it will only decrease my happiness.

I know it's hard to hear "just let it go" as a response, but this is coming from someone who routinely works out 4-5 hours a week and lifts weights 3 times a week but can't seem to shed much weight. I choose to enjoy eating regular meals and not making special, low-fat/low-calorie meals for myself, and that's what it would take to really lose weight like I did 4 years ago. Oh well!

I also hope to drop some weight before the wedding. I also want to tone my arms a little since my dress is strapless. I started a weight loss group with FH's family as they also want to lose some weight before our wedding. Maybe try a support group. Its easier to stay on track if other people are helping you.

I am an Advocare rep and do a 24 day challenge twice a year although you can do one every 3 months. Each time I have lost pounds and inches and have felt a ton better. But remember it isn't all about how you look but how you feel marrying the love of your life! You can email me at ******************@*****.*** if any of you want to learn more!

Sierra its totally doable before your wedding if you eat clean. I did the 21 day fix and it was amazing for me. I really didnt think I was eating that badly until I realized how many veggies I was supposed to eat in a day. If you want more info about it let me know.. You would have time to do a few rounds of it before your big day!

I think I'll start eating cleaner, for sure!

I was also thinking about run or walk-commuting to work. I live 2.8 miles away, so I could walk to work in just under an hour. It would give me nearly 6 miles a day whether I am walking/running. I know it's extreme, but I feel like extreme measures are necessary at this point LOL

I don't think i will ever be 100% happy with my figure ever. I'm trying to just like it a little bit and go from there. although exercise is great for not just weight loss but general health too. I would suggest doing something you like though (example: I forced myself to start running but I hate running so I never went then I'd feel really guilty about it- shitty cycle to get stuck in).
