Unhappy with figure

sierra, on October 6, 2014 at 10:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 56

Is anyone going into their wedding unhappy with their figure? And if so, are you planning to work out/do a cleanse etc...?

I'm just going to throw it out there that I am really unhappy with mine. I gained quite a bit of weight in the past two years while taking care of my sick mom and working three jobs. I didn't want to put off getting married until I could look my best, so I'm planning on just trying to exercise a lot before the wedding, but it's still stressing me out.

Am I in this boat alone?

I'm not happy with mine either! lol so no you aren't alone. I am starting a cleanse and diet with workout routine. If you have a solid healthy meal plan that alone helps drop a lot Smiley smile Best of luck!!!

Thanks Sydney! Glad to know I'm not alone. I feel like everything else will be perfect, but I'll feel like a Shmo. LOL

What kind of cleanse and diet are you doing?

Your def not alone. I did a 24 day challenge of clean eating. Eating 5 meals a day (certain foods), tons of vitamins and lost 15lbs and have kept it off. Might do it again. I work out 3 days a week and still eat 5 meals a day ( not the same food I did the 24 day challenge) . I did want to be smaller than I am now, especially dress shopping in 2 weeks.

On my phone and can't see your date.

Cut down on carb food. If you like sweets, cut down. (eat 1 cookie instead of 3), dinner eat more stir fries. Drink water. Take stairs instead of elevator, do squats, sit ups, jumping jacks, etc during commercials. Cut back on alcohol.

If you eat bagels, or drink specialty drinks at Starbucks, make it a one day a week. I now drink black coffee, except once a week I will get a cappuccino from Starbucks.

    Good luck.

I'm not happy with my mid-section the way it is right now, but I have time to get it together. I'm going to start the CKLS (colon, kidney, liver and spleen) cleanse starting March and will do it every 3 months. I'm taking Barre classes and will do the bridal boot camp next year 3 months before the wedding.

I try to be positive but It's the one thing that gives me anxiety about the wedding. I have to order my dress next month. Luckily all the dresses were very complementary (once I got mermaid out of my head!), but I'm so self conscious of my arms and every dress puts them on display.

I am on a uni key smoothie shakedown for a month and I was pretty good for the first 2 weeks but I am hating it now. It's just something about drinking my meals that gets to me.

FH is on nutrisystem and I may do that too for even more of a jump start. It's just so much money when trying to pay for a wedding. I just feel that I owe it to him to look like I did when he met me. We owe it to each other really.

I'm having knee and back issues so my old routine of doing some sort of activity 5 days a week has fallen to the wayside. I'm getting back into it though and I'm super stoked for the snow season with snowshoeing and skiing. I feel like dieting doesn't work for me at all. I need to fill my evenings with activities that I look forward too. That being said I do avoid my weaknesses like pizza, ice cream, cookies, and deep fried anything. I don't really feel that that is a diet, its just not eating crap that I love so much that I will eat it all.

That being said I think that we are too hard on ourselves. Right now I am actually the heaviest that I've even been, yet I feel very healthy and super empowered that I can accomplish some pretty physically demanding stuff. Maybe I'm on a workout high right now as I made some progress on my bouldering problems at the gym! Smiley laugh And if you don't know what bouldering is its super awesome and worth trying at least once especially with some girlfriends.

My wedding is about about 9 weeks away. It's nice to know I'm not alone, and while I do think we are too hard on ourselves sometimes, I'm just not happy with how I look. :/ I've heard cutting carbs can do wonders in a short time frame, so I may try that. It's tough because I work upwards of 60 hours a week, so I feel like I'm constantly fueling my body but it's probably too much.

Jacquelyn, I do love bouldering, but in Washington we have to do it indoors most of the year LOL

I lost 10 lb when I got serious, then I've been bouncing down 5 more lb and back up, over and over since then. I really should lose 35 more to be "healthy", but I know I start to look a lot slimmer at 20 lb down from my current weight. I am hoping my motivation returns to me soon, but when I get stressed at work I eat cake in the break room and then munch on leftovers when I get home all the way until dinner time.

I know I can squish into a dress and look pretty, but I want to look good out of the dress for FH!

    :o

I hear ya! I want to look good out of the dress, too hehe

I'm definitely wanting to do it for my health as well. I want to enter into a marriage being a great version of myself, you know?

I was in the same boat! I joined Dailyburn roughly a year before the big day. To summarize it it is an online based program that provides workout videos and diet plans that you can customize to fit your needs. With their diet and Cardio Sculpt program I lost 45 lbs. More importantly it made me realize how important it is to be healthy and make better choices. I'm still a member only I'm doing their Tactical Body Training program to focus on strength and maintaining rather than losing weight. While I highly recommend them I think being proactive about your health is great and anything that helps you get there is awesome. So no, you're not alone and yes you do have the ability to get yourself to a place where you feel comfortable with your body. Good luck I'm sure you will look beautiful on your wedding day no matter what Smiley smile

My wedding is this weekend and I'm still not happy with my figure. I had really wanted to lose more weight but I really struggle with it. I eat healthy, I workout but the weight doesn't seem to budge. I've tried to just put it out of my mind and tell myself that my dress fits and that is what matters. I bought one that was flattering to my size knowing it would be difficult to lose much weight. My biggest concern is my arms and fat face though. Smiley sad

Your not alone at all! I was doing really well exercising everyday and watching what I ate until my birthday came around on Sep 23. I had lost 9 pounds, now I think I am back to 6. Yesterday I decided IDGAF and had Panara Bread for lunch. Well, karma is a B because I'm pretty sure I have food poisoning. I haven't been able to leave my bed basically since lunch yesterday. If you stay committed, you will see results. You just have to be patient.

Not alone!! I'm not UNhappy with my figure, but at 2 months out, I would like to go from looking my norm to looking my best. I have a higher stress situation hopefully being resolved this weekend (my wonderful and adorable, yet a lot of work, foster pup is hopefully being adopted!!!!). So then I'm kicking it up. Working out (jogging and weights). Eating better (less carbs, more soups/crock pot things, which I can make with lean meats and veggies). More water. I already am not in the mood for alcohol, so that's awesome!

I'm OBSESSED with my work out DVDs, when I was losing weight i did one a little more extreme, and now i have a nice, 30 minute one I can pop in the DVD player before work and shower. If I snooze then I just do it first thing when I'm home, 30 minutes is so easy to make time for. Even the intense one was only 45 minutes.

I joined a gym. Try to watch the carbs and i have slimfast for lunch. I used to be super tiny, but not so much anymore. I'm not too concerned about losing a ton of weight; I'm just trying to be the best me even if it isn't a size 3 anymore. Plus I drink too much beer to really lose much weight...sorry but beer in Wisconsin is so delicious.

You are definitely not alone. I went into planning our wedding pretty quickly and unable to control my weight in the years while being engaged. I gained tons of weight after I had my daughter (now 4). I gained about 60LBS....I joined a gym and went religiously the month before our wedding and ended up losing just enough weight to fit perfectly into my dress (about 10lbs). I don't recommend doing this though, because I honestly just got lucky. While I was still dissatisfied with my figure, I am still pleased with my "day" and felt like a beautiful princess after seeing the pro pics come back from the photographer. You're still you--you're still beautiful no matter what. Shedding a few pounds won't make a huge difference between now and your date, so find that self-love deep within and rock it, girl.

Not happy one bit, but meh. I'm the heaviest I've ever been, which is still a size 8 but I can't shake being self conscious and the size of my wedding dress. I feel so comfortable and beautiful in it, though that I know I'll be completely fine and giddy the day of, no matter my size!
