uneven table seating

Katie, on May 17, 2013 at 10:33 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

We have 5 foot tables with 8 people per table.

Is it wierd to do some with 6,7,8, or 9 people just to keep people who know each other together? Or is that normal?

We have groups of friend that like 12 of them are coming and i hate to have a (sorry you don't fit with your friends) table. so it just makes more sense to do 6 and 6 - is that wierd?

I dont think its weird. As long as you still have enough room for everyone then thats the way you should do it.

I think it's fine! My venue provides 16, 60" tables but we needed more than that so instead we rented some 72" tables as well so we are mixing and matching! I honestly don't think anybody would even notice

ETA - You just want to make sure if you are putting less at 1 table that you have enough room at your venue for any additional tables

I think it's fine, and I'm doing it! We'll have a few tables with 6 people, and then bigger tables with 8-10 people. Otherwise it just doesn't work.

Yeah, I think it's impossible to fit your entire guest list into perfect, 8 person groups. That is just unrealistic! I plan to get 8 wherever I can, but will have some with 7 or 9 as well, I'm sure.

I'll agree it's fine. I'll also add that I've met some very interesting people at mixed tables over the years as well.

It's fine! sometimes things don't work out to be groups of eight. It might cost you a little more money for the extra tables, tablecloths, and centerpieces. You could try taking group of friend and diving them up, say 6 are close friends, put three on this table and three on another table to try to get your prefect 8. Just make sure everybody has aleast one friend at a table.

Up to you...if you split friends up though...I warn you that they could choose to sit wherever...
