Uh…rejected By Vendor?

Arielle, on December 15, 2021 at 1:48 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

Mainly just wondering if this has happened to anyone else!

I’ve had the vendor on a soft hold for months, and they were finally able to meet last week. I won’t lie, I definitely didn’t get the vibe she liked me at our first meeting, and it wasn’t the most professional interaction ever. But I figured it must be because she was tired or something from partying all weekend.
A week later I was informed that we were not a good fit. Granted, she purportedly works with Kim kardashian, Chrissy Teigen and supermodels, and needless to say that’s not me!
Just thought it was odd and honestly made me feel like I must be a huge weirdo to be rejected by a potential vendor. Didn’t even know that was possible!! So, is it just me then? 🙈

This happens all the time in larger areas. For example, I was rejected by a floral company because they said my vision for florals wasn't what they were wanting to do that season lmao.

Sometimes I've heard it is a price thing; maybe they have another event on soft hold that would pay more or something.

Also, as a final note, you absolutely would NOT want to work with anyone you aren't vibing with for your wedding day. Your vendors should make you excited and comfortable and you should feel like they are on your side!

Agree that its a blessing as it sounds like you weren't feeling her anyway, and last thing you want is someone rubbing you the wrong way during your stressful time!

I didn't know this was a thing until some girls told me! I was like what?? Lol. But it honestly has nothing to do with you! Vendors may have a particular clientele that they would like to work with. They too get to choose just like you who they would like to work with as well because at the end of the day it's between two parties that have to work together. Smiley smile

Think about it this way, wouldnt you rather have someone who is really excited about your vision and being there for you on your day than someone who just wants to take a job? I'd see it as a blessing to have someone outright tell you they wouldnt be a good fit than to ultimately have a bad experience on your wedding day.

It's just business; I wouldn't take this personally.

Based on the list of celebrities, I wouldn’t take it personally if she prefers working with those type of people.

I think we all forget that wedding vendors are not chain stores that have to serve everyone that comes in their door- not only are we interviewing them for our event, but they are also interviewing us to make sure we are a good fit for them too. Based on the clientele you listed, it sounds as though this vendor works with extremely high budgets and high profile clientele/events. I wouldn’t feel bad at all that she chose not to do your event; I would be appreciative that she was upfront with you from the beginning, rather than take on your event and not be “all in” on it. Now you will be able to choose someone who is a perfect fit for you 😊

If it’s not a good fit, move on. At least they’re being upfront and honest with you. It sounds like you didn’t get good vibes as well,
