Ugly bridesmaid dresses

I'm sure most of you were a bridesmaid at some point. Any of you had to wear a dress you absolutely hated? A couple months ago I was a BM and the dress was the worst. I'm sure most of you were a bridesmaid at some point. Any of you had to wear a dress you absolutely hated? A couple months ago I was a BM and the dress was the worst. I honestly would have taken an 80's bridesmaid dress with puffy sleeves over this one. It wasn't even a formal dress, which is okay, but it was a very casual blue dress from a catalog that looked like a maternity dress, or a dress no woman under the age of 50 would be caught dead wearing. It was also very cheaply made and the lace started falling apart at the end of the day. It came out to about $100 after tax and shipping but I was relieved when the bride said she would pay for them. Before anyone says she probably picked them because it's all about her looking good, I'll be the first to say that's not the case. She even said she thinks it's dumb to put BMs in ugly dresses because 1) as the bride you're already standing out; 2) it's mean and degrading yo purposely make your friends look ugly; Continued below...

I have blocked out faces to protect the innocent, but these are the exceptionally unfortunate dresses we had to wear. It was about 7 years ago, and if I remember right the dresses cost nearly $200!!!

The one time I was a BM, the dress was very unflattering for me. So I hated it, chopped it up and turned it into little girl dresses. It was a sunshiney yellow I am a read head who hasn't found a yellow I can wear that doesn't do weird things to my complexion. The bride picked it because she loved it, the other 7 BMs liked it. It was cheap, I reused it. No worries.

I've always thought one of the advantages of having only one female attendant (as I did at each of my weddings) was that no one had to match, so I could just let them pick out what they liked. Both of those dresses ended up being reused.

I was once in a wedding where the bridesmaid's dress looked like something my grandmother would've worn. Smiley sad But the other girls and I totally loved the bride, and like Diana, we wore those dresses with smiles on.

This was the last time I was at a wedding. I'm not sure I was even apart of the wedding. Either way, I think I look alright! This must have been late 80s/early 90s.

However, I have heard of brides putting their BMs in ugly dresses on purpose, which is awful. There's really no need for it.

HIH, that dress always makes me laugh! God, so many ruffles. I would look hideous in something like that.
