Can someone please explain this history behind this? Is this a new trend?

I'm going to have 2 only because I wanted a plain gold band to wear on my right (where the priest puts it) and then the e-ring with coordinating band will be on the left hand. I plan on wearing the plain band all the time. The bling rings will probably be on special occasions. I work from home so I rarely wear my e-ring around the house to begin with.

I'm having a ring guard as my wedding band because it looks better balanced. My e-ring is white gold and the ring guard is yellow gold with small diamonds. I wanted a two-toned look because I wear both silver and gold jewelry.

You get ONE wedding band. Women who have a second band usually get it as an anniversary gift, in which case its an anniversary band lol. I've also heard of women getting a "push present" which can be another band or some other type of jewelry, etc. AKA a way for jewelry stores to make more money lol.

You can get two wedding bands, there is no reason you only get one. Some engagement rings look better with two.
