Two Maids of Honor and one Matron

Nicole, on June 7, 2011 at 11:20 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

I have two maids of honor and one matron and I really don't know how they are suppose to walk down the aisle. There are a total of 6 on the brides side and 6 on the grooms side. I know that the bestman walks out with the one closer to me but in that case who stands closer to me? I am so confused!!!!! Please help.... How does the line up go? How does the enterance go?

I'm having two maids of honor as well. They are both my cousins who I have grown up with and are basically my sisters. I'm having the one that is closer in age to me walk down with the best man (and stand closest to me) and the younger one will walk down with a groomsman. I'm close to both, but growing up, myself and the older one were closer obviously because we're a year apart (the younger one is 5 years younger). I don't have any sisters or matrons of honor, however, so I was able to make the decision pretty easily. I don't know the relationship of your MOHs/Matron but I think that could affect the order they walk in. I don't know if that helps any, but that's what I'm doing for my two maids of honor Smiley smile

I was thinking of that today (being that I have 5 bridesmaids, 2 maids of honor and one matron of honor) and came up with the idea of having 7 groomsmen and the 1 best man so that way both maids of honor can be walked down the aisle during the processional and the matron of honor would walk by herself. On the way out the matron of honor would walk out with the best man and then the maids of honor and bridesmaids would walk out with the groomsmen. Well that's my idea anyway. As for who will be standing next to me, I think I'll have the one that has been the most help to me through all this.....although the other has been my best friend for the last 11 years. Ugh that's a tough decision to have to make....I guess I won't know until the last minute.

Yes that does help. My matron is a good friend that I have know for about 5 years but she is younger than me. One MOH is my BFF we have been friends since 2nd grade about 19 years. The other maid of honor is my cousin (by marriage). I love them all but I know only one can stand next to me and his bestman will walk in with him. So someone will need to walk in alone.

If you can't decide, so height. Go tallest MOH, next tallest MOH, shortest MOH, tallest Bridesmaid, etc.

I know this may sound silly, but I though MaidOH and MatronOH was the same thing. MatronOH is just married and the MaidOH was single. I thought their roles was the same ,am I wrong?

    @ Pumkins Sunshine: Thanks !

In that case they should go first shortest to tallest, unless you are really close to one of them ex:sister.

I have a Maid of Honor and a Matron of Honor. Luckily my FH is having two best men. I'm thinking that the Matron of honor will walk with the first best man and the maid with the second. I have known both of them the same amount of time and have been close to both of them my whole life (they are friends also) so I never really thought about determining who would be closest to me at the altar.... i dont think they would mind anyway... but that is tough...

So I have a 26 person bridal party! 13 on my side and 13 on my fiances - I call them my "zoo"! My aunt is my Matron of Honor, except I cannot choose between my two best friends for Maid of Honor so I was thinking of having both of them as my Maid of Honor. Is that weird?

    Thoughts?

Amanda, I'm in the same boat! I am newly engaged, and didn't even want to start planning a wedding yet! But has soon as you say "yes", everyone starts bugging you!

While I don't have a "zoo" bridal party (hehe), I do have a MOH issue. I chose my best friend; but she lives in another state and isn't as responsible as I'd like. I was planning on having my older sister as a bridesmaid, but now I'm thinking she should be my second maid of honor. She's a lot more responsible and is already on top of helping me with everything.

Lastly, I would like my mother to be my matron of honor. Is that weird? To have two maids of honor AND a matron of honor? I feel selfish but It's more because I want others to feel special.

On my day, I know right? But it's not just a day. This wedding will set events and emotions into play for years to come, and I don't want to step on any toes. I want to be in someone's wedding one day, too!

    Thoughts/ help/ advice?!
