I have two dresses. I have one that reflects more of my personality and style while the other is what everyone else wanted me to wear haha. =)

I'm personally not a fan of it. You only get to wear your wedding dress once, and I think it should be worn for the duration of the event. But that's just my opinion!

I got a 2nd dress in order to feel my mom from crying from disappointment at the plain and not very wedding-like dress i picked out originally.

I'm not a fan. I spent a lot of money on my wedding dress and I would never dream of wearing it for only a 25 minute ceremony and an hour's worth of pictures. I'll be dancing in that baby all night.

Add me to the "not a fan" club. I think it's ridiculous to have costume changes at your wedding; it's not a Broadway show. And if you love your dress, why would you want to ditch it after the ceremony?

Not me! I love that thing! And I'll only ever get to wear it once. I'm gonna keep it on until FH take it off me lol.

The only time I would suggest two dresses is like a post a few weeks back. If you are into dancing and are doing a specific dance number with your FH that needs a specific style dress. I think the woman said her dress was a zipper back so she wanted to slip on a tango dress for a dance number and put her Original back on after it was over. That's fine with me but I don't understand the whole buy two wedding dresses thing. I'm not spending that much on a dress I'm wearing for an hour and then buy another one to wear for a few more hours. Some people could buy weeks worth of clothes for the price of one dress much less two.

I'm not a fan - why would you want to spend time away from your wedding changing into something else, getting re-ready....nope

Nope. Wedding dresses cost A LOT of money and you only get to wear it for one day. Unless you have a very specific reason for needing two dresses, just get one. Put the money you would use on a second dress somewhere else.

I have two dresses! One that I adore and will happily wear until after dinner, then one I can seriously dance in without carrying around all that extra dress length. FH and I recently attended a wedding where we watched the groom trip over his wife's dress all night on the dance floor and it was not cute. FH is so glad he won't have to do that with me!

I am not a fan, it seems like a waste of money. Why would you want to change out of a gorgeous dress you spent lots of money and time picking out to just wear it for only a couple hours. You only get to wear your wedding dress once, might as well wear it for the whole night.

Do what YOU want to do and what you can afford to do. A lot of brides do this and they have various reasons for it. For some, they want one dress for the ceremony, but realize it may not be comfortable all night. Some want a dress more conducive to dancing at the reception. I wanted a dress for our first look and another dress for the ceremony/reception. There's nothing at all wrong with wardrobe changes as long as you're doing what you can afford to do.

As for photos, that's really up to you. I would try to get bridals in your ceremony dress. Presumably, your photographer will be taking tons of photos at your reception, so you'll have plenty of photos of your reception dress as well.

I have 2 dresses. However my reception dress was my mothers wedding dress and I got it altered and redesigned to my liking. If it wasn't a dress that had meaning to it I would of only had one dress.

For the amount of money I spent on my dress, I cannot imagine wearing it for only an hour! One dress all the way.

Now my dress is also large and heavy and hot with my wedding the end of June. If I start over heating during the dance, I will change out of it and put on a dress I wore to a shower or to my bachelorette party. But *fingers crossed* I do not need to do that. I would not buy just a reception dress.

It's a very personal choice based on what you want and what you can afford. I had two dresses, but both were very inexpensive. If I had spent a lot of money on my ceremony dress, I would've worn it the whole time. Since I didn't, I decided to change things up and wear a cooler dress for the reception. It was a very hot day and even though the reception was air conditioned, it was still nice to have a light, cool dress.

I was in a wedding where the bride changed for cultural reasons.

She was -- per Chinese custom -- supposed to have 7 outfits.

She modified that to 2, one white Western wedding gown and one red Asian gown. They were both beautiful.

    (The groom changed too.)

I'm also going to do a change of outfits. I plan on wearing the white dress for my ceremony and then for he reception an Indian saree since I am Indian and would like to have that part of my culture included in my day.
