Tuxedo Rental Costs?

Private User, on January 11, 2014 at 12:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

Hi Ladies,

How much are you paying for your tux rentals? We just placed our order at Men's Warehouse and my FH's tux is $229 and his groomsmen are $209.

Is that the average costs? Seems kind of expensive.

Thanks!

We just came back from there 15 minutes ago.

Each total package was $186, and but since I bought my dress at David's Bridal (their partner store), they got $40 off, making their total come out to $146 apiece.

It probably depends on the maker and style of the tux. FH is wearing a gray cutaway tux and the package comes with ascot, handkerchief, vest, suspenders, shoes, and socks. The groomsmen are wearing the same, except theirs is black.

Mine will be $160 and then the groom will be getting his for free (which I think we are going to split up with the guys)

FH and his men ordered thiers from a tux shop here in town. FH got his for free (we won a drawing at a bridal show), and his men are paying $175 for thiers.

We haven't made it to MW yet but I hear you get a discount when you get your dress from DB

Well, our groomsmen are buying their suits for about $300-$350. The rentals ranged anywhere from $99+. So, I think your price is relatively normal.

It depends. Just like a dress, better quality can be more expensive. At 229 sounds like he is wearing a designer tux, like Vera Wang or Calvin Klein.

I think it depends on the designer and how you want to go a bout it. You could always see about other "formal wear" rental locations in your area - especially with Prom season almost upon us.

Thanks for all the feedback. I just wanted to check here to verify the going rate.

@TooManyMistys. I thought it would be cheaper, too - especially with $40 off coupon they said they applied. I don't think they're designer tux.

We just picked ours out yesterday and they were around $200 after the $40 off coupon. I was shocked too but we wanted grey tuxes and there were only a couple options so I guess it is what it is.

We just got back from Mens Wearhouse and came out to $200 after tax, and after receiving $40 off per tux.

My DH and guys got theirs from a local shop. I think it was about $180-190. We got a coupon for like $50 off since we had 5 rentals, but put that towards the ring bearer's outfit since his parents were a bit short of money.

We are getting ours from a jims formal wear retailer. They have a 40 dollar off coupon on their website, and the groom is free because we had enough people in our party. We also are doing grey tuxes.

Coupons can be so tricky sometimes it seems like they mark it up so that when you use the coupon you feel like your getting a deal but it was already overpriced to start

Are you getting the Vera Wang? That's the going rate for it. There are cheaper alternatives, but the VW to me is hot.

I have heard though that mens wearhouse is pretty expensive. There are a few other places near us they at least advertize under 100 bucks of course they are not designer suits/tux.
