Trying to decide if i should choose a different date

Candice, on March 21, 2020 at 7:39 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

So, here is my story. My wedding is scheduled for January 30th, 2021. A lot of my guest will be traveling from New York to Florida. I don't know if I should wait and see what happens for the next 30 days or if I should pick a new date now.

Why do you want to consider a new date? Your wedding date is plenty far out enough where the virus would not necessarily affect it

The reason I'm considering a new date is because I have no idea how long my guests will be out of work, I heard this shutdown of non essential businesses could last until July, and if that happens I don't know if they would be able to pay airfare, hotel, and other expenses.

Hi, my date is 1/23/21. I think it is early to start thinking about moving your date. Things are changing on a daily basis, which means that we very well may be in a different situation next month. I would wait until July to make a decision. There are many brides that postponed their weddings until August of 2020 so I think we should be fine for now. Smiley smile

I was trying to figure out my save the dates and stuff and I didn't want to have to have them reprinted and stuff. But I think you're right, just have to give it a little more time and see what happens.

What I did was create electonic save the dates. Those are the only ones that brides usually send out far in advance. Doing it electronically will save you the cost in the case that you have to move your wedding. I am not planning on sending out actual paper invitations until September so plenty of time. I would wait to see what happens. Even if you keep your date July is fine for sending out your save the dates and we’ll hopefully have a better handle on the timeline of things by then.

It's just that for about 25% of my guests it would be a destination wedding, so I was wanting to get the save the dates out earlier than recommended. Plus, I'd rather move my wedding date than have people rsvp no because they are four months behind on every single bill they have. You know? But I think you're right, there is still a bit of time to see how things go.
