Trouble choosing wedding party colors that look good with my dress

Taylor, on August 10, 2020 at 10:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18
Hello! I am getting married in October next year and I just purchased my wedding dress. All the color ideas I had for my bridesmaids and the groomsmen were based around a white dress, however, I ended up with a nude/ champagne colored dress that I adore. My groom is a redhead, so I don’t think a black suit would flatter him well. I was thinking a gray or navy suit would look best on him, and I an leaning towards a medium gray color. I would want the groomsmen in matching pants, white dress shirts, and whatever color tie that goes with the bridesmaids. Up until this point I have been thinking of silver or sage, from birdy grey, as the colors for the bridesmaid dresses. However, I can’t decide if either of these colors would go well. And it’s especially difficult choosing my color scheme as it is a fall wedding. I plan on using an abundance of white pumpkins and white mums, as well as rustic lanterns to give the environment a fall vibe. I would like to steer clear of mauve, gold, and orange colors as options. I am open to other suggestions! I have included a picture of my dress for reference

    What a beautiful gown!
What about burgundy or a dark red?

    Thank you!
I considered a cabernet/ maroon color but wasn’t sure how to do the flowers for my arch, bouquets, or boutonnières. I plan on using fake flowers to construct the arch flower arrangement. Do you think eucalyptus with various ivory/ cream flowers and baby’s breath would look nice?

We are doing red as our main color, it's what the bridesmaids will be wearing and the color of the ties/pocket squares for the guys. For flowers, we are using fake flowers and have red carnations, pink chrysanthemums, white dahlias, eucalyptus, and baby's breath.

Your dress is beautiful! When I saw it, I instantly thought red, burgundy or maroon would look really good with it.

Thank you! So, what about silver bridesmaid dresses and navy suits on the fellas? Or is burgundy a favorite?

I would not base colors on a dress rather maybe favorite colors or the season. I came across burgundy and peach for me because we are having a fall wedding and those are popular fall colors and I thought they were beautiful. Blue is my favorite color but I did not see that fitting into a fall theme. What color does your fiance want his tux to be? What two colors for your bouquet and bridesmaids stand out to you?

I don’t think silver or sage would be an issue with your dress. Can you get free swatches and look at them next to your dress? I hate looking at colors on the computer, I find it so much easier to see them together in person.
My dress is champagne with ivory lace and I initially planned to go with sage dresses for my MOHs. We decided to incorporate lots of greenery instead, and my MOHs picked two different complementary shades of pink/mauve for our sunrise ceremony.
    Beautiful dress!

I agree with Kristen and not choose colors based on your dress but rather colors of the season.

Mine is similar in tone. My sister is wearing a champagne dress, I have burgundy and navy accents in my off-white:blush bouquet. My mother is wearing navy and my close aunt is in burgundy

Grey suits and sage dresses would be beautiful imo!

My dress also has more off-white/champagne tones and our palette is navy, copper, sage, grey, and ivory with wood accents.

The bridesmaids will have navy dresses and the guys will have grey suits.

I personally don't like the champagne/nude color with silver as I feel they kind of clash so I definitely prefer the burgundy. I also don't know why it would be an issue for your fiance to wear a black suit. Our ring bearer was a redhead and he wore a black tux and he looked so cute.

I have a champagne colored dress and we are doing steel blue and burgundy colors for our wedding. Our bridal party will be in the steel blue color and then having burgundy throughout the decor and flowers.

Your dress is a beautiful color! I love the idea of white pumpkins too! I agree, black would be too dark for him but navy or med gray. I would incorporate some warmer tones to complement the dress and his hair color. Also metallics to make it elegant (would you consider rose gold or champagne since you don't like gold?) And then some rich dark colors for the season. Here are some color suggestions:

Your dress will look fine with any color scheme you choose - so dont worry about that. Maybe something like this?
