Triple D bust vs backless dress: which will win?

Kathleen , on October 10, 2016 at 7:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 28

I have a question for the busty brides out there! I love the backless style dresses, but I am a 34DDD and need a TON of support in that area. Otherwise I may be tripping over the girls all day. So my question is: will adding sewn-in cups to the dress offer enough support? Or is there a better way to go backless?

    I'm a DDD, and I wouldn't do sewn-in cups.

Try finding a long-line bra that has no back. There's boning in the front to give you more support.

That's the size I am and my alterations lady said sewn in cups do not offer support. They make low back corset type bras if the dress if just low back. I'm going braless, the dress is tight enough that I think I'll be ok.

Sewn cups don't offer support. They offer structure. I'm a 34 D and I had sewn in cups but I had a corset back so it held my girls in!

    I had luck using KT tape and nu-bra. I am a 34 F.

Great to know, thanks everyone! I will have to search for a low-back long line. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm a 34 G and was told sewn in cups wouldn't be a good thing for support.

So this is interesting because I'm a 34ddd and actively looking at dresses with illusion backs - everyone keeps telling me at different shops it's no problem and they've had women with even bigger boobs who have been successful with sewn in cups....this makes me worried!

Backless won't offer support. The support in a strapless come from the corset part. I'm a 42H

    @Julie: 34F = 34DDD.

OP, I hope that dress has steel boning if you want to go braless. Otherwise, find a backless/super low back bra for the dress.

I would say this definitely depends on your breasts. I'm a 34G and I could not, under any circumstances, pull off a low-backed dress. If they are perkier to begin with, you might be able to get away with it. Keep in mind you're going to be moving a lot, bending over sometimes, etc., and I know if I weren't supported, I would need frequent adjusting. Do. You want to worry about that all night?

@dena that's a really good point, I hadn't thought of that. The constant adjusting would drive me crazy. May have to go back to the drawing board!

Find a low back bra. You don't want to feel like you are flashing your wedding guests all day. Sewn in cups will not fight gravity for you.

Also, just a tip.....Allure has corsets built in to many of their dresses. If you find an Allure dress that goes half way up your back, don't bbe afraid to at least try it on. Mori Lee dresses had zero support. Some Maggie's had support, but Allure was by far the best!

I'm getting cups sewn in but I know once my dress comes in I'll have to look into more options since I'm a DDD. I'll definitely look into what the others talked about here.

OP - don't be afraid to try on low-back dresses because of the girls. there's a bunch of options out there and the people at the dress shops should have some good ideas for you too!

We're the same size! My dress isn't backless, but it has a pretty low back. I'm going to bring the seamstress my favorite strapless bra for her to sew in. The cups they have only go up to a D.

A 34F is not necessarily a DDD; US size 34F is not the same as a UK 34F, and many people in the US refer to themselves by UK sizing bc so many brands for these types of bras are British.

OP, as a 32FF (UK, so I think 32DDDDD or H in American), I wouldn't rely on sewn-in cups. Someone on here posted a link a few months ago to a neat backless bra for larger cups, but I don't remember the link Smiley sad

In a 32DDD and I'm looking for a low back bra also. My gown has a low cowl neck, these girls need to be restrained lol
