Travel Agents

We did!!! I’ve always planned my own vacations (including a 3 week Europe trip/girls weekends/ family trips etc) but I did not want to be trying to handle honeymoon planning on top of wedding planning. It’s just so much to keep track of. Once we decided where we wanted to go (Aruba and an all inclusive) we reached out to a travel agent and she did the rest. Couldn’t be happier!!!

Before reaching out, do you think you need to just have a location in mind or sort of have an idea of hotel too?

View Quoted Comment Not necessarily, we just already had decided. Probably a good idea to have general location. Europe/Mexico/Caribbean etc or warm/cold and general time of year.

We will for part of ours. I want help & guidance on some of it, but we also want to plan some of it.

Also, another reason we decided on a travel agent for our honeymoon was because neither one of us has ever taken a cruise before. All of the ones we were looking at depart from Florida (we're in California), so coordinating the flights with the ship departure, and the timing, we just decided it would be easier to go through someone who knows the ropes. And we also want to get the best possible cabin on the ship, within our budget, but had no idea where to start there. Having someone experienced at booking this kind of travel was a must have for us.

YES highly recommend!!! Ours was fantastic. We are going to Hawaii and we essentially told her where we wanted to go, the dates, and excursion ideas. She sent us an email with her top picks for accommodations, excursions, flights, car rentals. It took the weight off my shoulders and gave me one less thing to worry about. We did most of the planning via email, but we did meet with her in person for 30 min just to review everything

We did not use one. I didn't think it was worth the money when I could easily do the research myself.

Yes, and I highly recommend it! We didn't pay her anything, she gets her cut from the tour company she books with. I think if we had talked with her and hadn't confirmed a trip, we maybe would have owed her a small fee but I'm not sure. Regardless, I recommend it 100%. If you're not sure where to go, contact a travel agent with what you have in mind and an idea of your budget and they should be able to suggest a few ideas. Ours made the planning process SO easy and now the entire honeymoon is booked out for us. All we have to do is decide where to go for dinners and where we want to explore on our days without tours/excursions planned.

Same here! My travel agent gets commission off the booking so I didn't have to pay anything extra. She was actually able to get me a huge deal.
