Travel Agent or plan yourself?

Renay, on September 27, 2019 at 11:39 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6
Hey All! FH and I really want to go to Jamaica for our honeymoon. We are getting married 4/25/2020 and would like to fly out Sunday morning, home on Friday 5/1. We already have a couple of excursions we want to do (luminous lagoon, rum plantation, dunns river falls, and maybe dolphin encounter), but were wanting to stay at an all inclusive resort ( we know the excursions will be extra).Any one have a specific resort they've been to and loved?

Did you book through a travel agency or book yourself? I've been told a travel agency is cheaper, but I am a control freak LOL.
Any tips would be appreciated!!

I don't always think a travel agency is cheaper, actually. they might be and they might not be either BUT it sure does save you more trouble

I've stayed at Jewel Paradise Cove (with my BFF) and it was great, and a few expeditions were included...Dunns River for sure. But an agent can assist with the additional expeditions and get you discounts, etc. I worked with a travel agent and she got me the best deals, but I wasn't responsible for her fee and she was very communicative and attentive to our needs.

    Have fun planning.

We booked our Hawaii honeymoon ourselves. I prefer to be in charge of planning & don't get stressed so it was easier for me.

Not always cheaper. I've often found better deals than they have offered me.
Book it yourself- booking an all-inclusive is the simplest vacation to book without help.

I used a travel agent to book our honey moon flights, and I'm so glad I did. We are going to Hawaii and FH wanted to fly Hawaiian Air, at least part of the way. It was so much easier for her to find options to fit what we wanted, and book it for us then for me to spend time researching and trying to match times to make sure flights wouldn't overlap.

We didn't get charged for using her, I assume she gets kickback from the booking. I would definitely recommend a travel agent, especially if you don't travel or book flights/hotels/etc. very often.

We booked Tahiti and Mo'orea. Would have been cheaper to do it ourselves, but they added on excursions with discounts, and scheduled all kinds of stuff for us including: transportation everywhere we need to go, massages, private dinner on the beach, jet ski tour, atv tour, shark and ray feeding, etc. Plus they had insight on the best beaches, etc. I definitely am glad we went through an agency. Plus they got us upgraded plane seats for half the cost.
