Train regrets..

So my wedding dress had this really long, beautiful train. So my wedding dress had this really long, beautiful train. My seamstress talked me into cutting it off, because (her reasons) a) it would cost a lot to do the bustles because there are so many layers b) it would be a big pain for my MOH to do the bustles after the ceremony and c) I'm not having a church wedding so I didn't "need" a train. Well, I have yet to see the dress minus the train, but I definitely regret saying she could cut it off. Smiley sad just wondering how many brides had trains, didn't have trains, and any reasoning you might have had! (Attached a photo of my dress with the train because omg it's beautiful)

Thanks everyone! I called and she's having me call back later when she's at home so she can look at it and see where she's at with it. I don't want to keep the whole thing, I'm thinking just a foot or so? I just don't want it to end in the back when it hits the floor. @Melissa & @Mrs. V V I like the length of both of yours!

I will be sure to update when I know for sure what will happen.

I am having mine cut off. But it hasn't even come in yet, I have a few months before the fitting. I am really happy you posted about this!

(Awkward picture but its all I have) You can see the back is just plain and I feel it will get in the way too much at the wedding! I would love to see some ball gowns with no trains if anyone has any! Smiley smile

My dress has a small almost non existent train. I always thought I'd have a train, but I tried this dress on and fell in love with it. I do have a cathedral length veil though lol

I had a train (which I loved), and even then it did get in the way when walking/dancing, and wasn't nearly as long as yours. I don't regret not chopping it though, since I loved how it looked and the detail. My bustle was fine, and my DOC had no problems putting it up.

@Herecometheyorks It looks like yours has similar material/layers to mine! I think that's a big part of why I'm second guessing my decision... I haven't seen a whole lot of dresses without trains.

I for one, LOVED my train, it is what sold me on the dress, besides the long sleeved bolero. Yes it was a pain, but looked gorgeous. Smiley smile

Well, she's already hemmed the dress but she said she did leave like 2-3 inches in the back. So that's alright, I guess

Ignore the veil, it's not what I'm wearing

Also, that sleeve thing isn't part of the dress. Just something the associate put on me

I hate trains so much, I had a short dress! I think they look amazing for pictures, but I absolutely hated trying to walk with one in the store. That massive annoyance was too much for me, so knee length it was! And I loved it!

My dress hasn't come in yet, but it's got a 75inch train which I am most definitely chopping off. I like it when it just looks like a little puddle around your feet.

I think it will be fine. I would say that if you weren't set in the train, it is okay that it I gone. They are generally hastles and bustles are even worse. Your dress is beautiful and I think it will also be just as stunning without the train. Maybe more because it will fall straight down.

I removed the train and it was the best decision that I made! First I liked my dress so much more without it. But the day of was wonderful, didn't have to worry about it dragging or bustling...my bridesmaids could have fun and not worry about my dress and I could dance without worrying about the hustle. The train is nice for like 2 pictures but trust me you're dress will still be beautiful!

I love your dress. I think it will be pretty without the train. I prefer dresses without trains because I hate bustles. There are several dress that I have selected on my "Wish List" that have trains. Whatever dress I choose, if it comes with a train, it will be cut. However, for budgetary reasons, hopefully "The One" will be without a train.
