Traditional wedding cake or cupcakes?

Lisa, on February 19, 2022 at 10:56 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 3 11
Hey everyone! Me and my fiance have our cake tasting today, we are stuck between doing a full traditional wedding cake or a small cake and cupcakes or combining both..what is everyone's opinions on that? Pro and cons of both? We are estimating about 75 guests

I’m doing a petite cake and a dessert bar and I can pick 5 items so I’m thinking of banana pudding cups, cake pops, cupcakes, cookies and mini cheesecake bites. I like the display of a dessert bar also.

My fiance and I are looking into getting cupcakes for our dessert for guests and possibly a small cake for him and I to enjoy. We're taste testing one of our cupcake places right now and I think we're gonna try to do a couple cupcake options.

We’re going with cupcakes! A little more COVID friendly, more cost effective and my fiancé and I don’t honestly love cake. We are going to have a little cheesecake or key lime pie for ourselves and cupcakes for our guests. Also this means you don’t need to have someone cut and serve the cake which can take up a chunk of time. The only con I see is not having the traditional big and beautiful cake.

Thanks for all the input! It gave us some different ideas and outlooks we decided to do a small cake for ourselves and 3 different flavored cupcakes for all of our guest to choose from 😁

This is exactly what we're doing, but we have 4 cupcake flavors. It made it easier for both of us to get our favorite flavors and to include some that are a bit more adventurous.

My fiancé and I are doing both. We plan on having a 2 tier cake, so we can keep the top tier for our 1 year anniversary and cut the bottom tier. We decided to have cupcakes as well because we have over 100 guests and we didn’t want people to have to wait in line for cake to be cut. With cupcakes, it’s a lot easier for them to just pick one up off the table and we can incorporate more flavors.

I'm doing cupcakes. They are easier to transport as well as there is no cake cutting fee. I am only spending about $250 for 75 cupcakes and a small 3 tiered cake for myself and my spouse plus the $100 delivery fee. So for the cake and cupcakes before delivery it was only $150. It's a lot more affordable compared to cake.
