Traditional vows vs. written vows

Soon-to-be-Mrs-Luna, on September 29, 2014 at 9:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

Me and FH is torn on rather we should write our own vows. I want to write something heartfelt and meaningful but when I try to put how I feel into words I end up rambling. (I know it sounds REALLY dumb.) I just want it to be simply and beautifully said without it making it into a speech. Lol HELP!!!

I wanted to write our own vows but in the end we ended up using some we found online, much easier to get through Smiley winking We didn't want the traditional ones. Here's the website I used. We used #13.

Personally, I am leaning more towards traditional. I know I am going to be a babbling mess, so I want vows to be short and sweet. If I get really meaningful, I am going to get REALLY emotional!

We went with traditional because we are both super nervous about being in front of everyone and didn't want to mess things up. We can easily do the "repeat after me" without messing up too badly so that's the way we are going!

We are going to say something short and sweet to each other (hopefully I can find the right words!) and then repeat the traditional vows that we chose. I saw mix it up if you want to!

As of right now, we are going to write our own. However, that could change.

I am doing the same as what Dani is doing. We are writing our own vows. Promises to each other, then we are doing the traditional vows.

    We are going with traditional.

We both like the idea of saying the same words that have been repeated millions of times across the world and time. There is something nice about that I think

We did traditional. We said our own to eachother from the heart after the wedding, in our hotel. I absolutely love the traditional vows and couldn't imagine not saying them. I think the others, that you write yourself, are too personal and mean more when said in private.

I followed a guide online and wrote them in my own words. I included that I promise to "baby" him when he's sick. He got sick AS SOON as we got back from our honeymoon... LOL

I loved that we wrote our own. It was so magical.

Fh and I have been together a long time. He should know how I really feel and vice versa LOL! ! So we're doing the "repeat after me" vows. But I plan to present something special to him and it'll have a love note attached to it that I'll write myself. No one will be around when he opens it just him and and the videographer to capture his reaction. That's one of the moments I can't wait to playback and makes me thankful we have a videographer!

Same here as a few of the girls. We're doing a quick set of our own vows to each other, but will say "I do" traditionally.

We wanted to do our own vows but realised, we have enough stress already and this will add to it on the day. Why not write your own vows to each other and give it to each other before or after the ceremony?

Traditional because we want to take the same vows that so many people before us have taken.

We wrote our own vows. I am a rambler too, so it was difficult to write them. But honestly, though it took my hours and 3 drafts, totally worth it! I made him cry. And his vows were amazing too. I vote for writing your own.

We're writing our own after getting some inspiration from different websites. I really like how they turned out.
