Traditional vows or writing your own?

I'm writing my own too. Adds a personal touch.

Traditional

We wrote our own, and had our minister proof read them. We had to make a few changes. Originally it was more a list of compliments than a promise. We really wanted ours to be in our own words.

We are too introverted to write our own vows and read them in front of most of the people we know, so we picked some vows our officiant had used in the past and we're going with that. But we're doing a wine box ceremony and putting letters to each other in the box to open on our first anniversary, which will be much more meaningful and cause less anxiety for the both of us haha.

We are writing our own. Traditional vows just seem too fake to me. I would much rather say something that comes from my heart and hear something that comes from his.

I would like to write my own, but we're getting married in the Catholic church and I hear that they don't let you.

Traditional. Getting married in the church. I can't imagine changing a ceremony that has worked for over 400 years.

We're doing the traditional ones. It's something FH was very clear about wanting.

My couples have done it a variety of ways: traditional; own vows; traditional vows followed by own vows; or just saying "I do."

Our officiant is writing ours for us. I'll ok them ahead of time. Neither FH nor I wanted to write our own. He felt it was too personal and private of a thing to announce in front of everyone and I agree.
