I am in a bind on a decision about cake! Never thought I'd say that.... But here we are! So in my research and from observation from my friends weddings. Cake is becoming a dying trend and in it's place dessert tables are becoming very trendy. I have always know of having a big fancy cake that you cut in front of everyone and eat ....but then like half of the crowd doesn't eat it! So you just paid 300+ for a cake and most of it you're going to throw away! So I'm torn between should we have the big cake for everyone? Or should we have little desserts at a station, with a personal cake just for my FH and me to cut? Or should we just go all out and do both?? I personal lean toward the personalized cake with dessert table but I want to keep to tradition in some places!

We are doing the 3 tier cake with flowers, etc. I think this is totally personal preference. FH & I wanted a cake, so we are doing a cake. We are however doing cookies as favors

A cake is included in our package so we will definitely be having a tiered cake of sorts. Also included is cookies and pastries, an ice cream sundae bar and cookies and coffee to go at the end of the night. I love sweets so when they said all of that was included I was sold lol

We did a 6" cake for cutting and mini cupcakes! We only had maybe 20 leftover (146 attended, I think we did 160 cupcakes though). I think the mini aspect helped from too much leftover 😊 . If we didn't also have s'mores at the bonfire outside, we probably would have had nothing left. Our friends crushed the desserts 😂

Why not have a grab cake but have the baker only do a couple layers in real cake and have the others be cake forms? This allows you to have the big fancy cake you dreamed of and not have to spend quite as much. That way you can have dessert table as well.

I’m having my dessert table at the rehearsal dinner and then having my big cake at the reception

We are doing both. I love the look of the wedding cake but I love all desserts. It's mostly for me cause I like desserts lol.
