traction on the bottom of shoes?

Mistie, on May 9, 2010 at 9:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

I found the perfect shoes. I was wearing them at my parents to day to break them in and they slip on every surface. There is very little traction on the bottom of the shoes. Does anyone know if there is anything out there that I could put on the bottom of my shoes so they don't slip on everything?

I should get these and try them myself--I definitely have some heels where this is a problem!

I usually just go out on concrete and scuff them down. I look like I'm doing the running man but it usually works to give any shoes some texture on the bottom.

Yeah, my other suggestion would be to actually take an x-acto knife and score the bottoms very lightly, but scuffing would have the same effect.

I will have to check those out. They have tiny ridges in them but they don't really seem to do much. Maybe I will try them out in the driveway. Thanks

Oooooh! Now those I clearly NEED. :p (I actually have a pair of shoes that had hearts on the soles already, but I don't think they have any texture difference--just there for people to spot.)

They have little gripper deals in the shoe department at Wal-Mart

An inexpensive fix, might be to get a tube of SHOE GOO at walmart and put a very thin coating on the sole where they touch the floor, let them dry good by propping upside down so the soles don't touch anything till they dry. I did this for a pair of shoes once and it worked well for me. Might want to try on an old pair of shoes first and see if you like the feel of it as you walk.

I do what Fins does. I just scuff them on the concrete to give them a texture. It usually does the trick just fine.
