Totally broke a nail.

Angie, on December 2, 2014 at 10:47 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

So there are 11 days untily wedding.

I used to get acrylics but they destroyed my nails and I've spent a lot of time trying to make them healthy, natural, again! As well as kicking my nail biting habit. Well, 11 days and counting, the length was about where I wanted until, of course, I broke a nail!

Now I don't know what to do. Should I get them done all short? Or cave and get acrylics even though they ruin my nails? What would you do?

I think it'll grow to a decent length by the time you get them done for the wedding...just have the manicurist cut the rest as short as the length the broken one grows to.

Let it grow as much as possible, then do them all short. I've seen short nails look so great with French tips! I wouldn't ruin my nails again Smiley sad

I mean, I guess I could get them all done like I was planning with that one nail short, and hope no one notices/photographs it! Ugh, it totally would make me mad if everything was perfect about a certain picture except for the fact that I had one wonky nail haha.

That sucks! I know I'm going to have the same problem...I would just wear them short. You've still got time for the broken one to grow out a bit, and I think shorter nails look just as nice, especially with a good manicure Smiley smile

I'd cave and get acrylics for this one time. After this, you can get your nails healthy again and you won't NEED to ruin them ever again. I have never gotten my nails done for that reason, but if I were to break one of my natural nails that close to the wedding, I'd cave, too. It's the most photographed day of your life. Good luck!

Don't get acrylics!!! Pay a little more and get a gel nail on it!!! So much healthier. It is worth the extra money and they look real compared to others! you could just get the one done and then a thin gel overlay on the others so they are all a little stronger for the wedding Smiley smile

I was going to suggest the same thing as mallory. I would go with the gel as well. It's healthier for your nails then acrylics. It's a little more expensive, but so much better.

They can put a tip on the broken nail so they're all the same length then go over it with gel.

I would leave it and even them out closer to the day (unless you're worried about breaking another... in that case I would trim them all now). Bonus: it is on your right hand so you won't have to worry too much about pictures Smiley smile

Keep growing it out and see how much it grows by the 11th....if you don't like the length then I would just go get gel nails

I had two nails break before my wedding. I had two fake nails on those fingers. I was the only one who could tell.

Gel nails are better for your real nails, if you want to take them off after the wedding, your real nails will not be destroyed like they are with acrylic.

I totally broke nails about 3 weeks before my wedding and they grew out some but it was sorta a loss...it looks like you broke the nail on your right hand so at least it isn't as important if you are going to do up close ring hand shots. And some good french manicure will fake it fine I think.

OMG, that would ruin my day.

Let it go for now. Maybe if you file your nails into a more square shape, it will be less noticable?
