Too soon?

We got engaged December 4, 2021. Is it too soon to be planning for the wedding? We were thinking of July 9, 2023 for the wedding.

Not at all! I got engaged back in ‘19 but due to covid we had to post pone our wedding. We decided over the weekend that we were going to go with July 21st 2023 for our date…we already have a photographer booked (I did that today) and I’m talking to a venue about having our wedding there. We also did our save the dates, invitations, and rsvps they are coming in the mail next week so they are ready to send out when it gets a little closer! The sooner you start planning the better because you have to think there are a lot of people who are also getting married so the longer you wait the less options you have as far as venues/photographers and other various things that go with planning a wedding 💜

Me and my fiancé already chose our wedding party, we aren’t using an event space for venue or reception. We are using a traditionally used family space for both. We are officially going to start looking at dresses and tux’s in June/July, that way there is enough time with covid for everything along with caterers and cake testing. We are trying to get some stuff done now that way we have less to worry about when we’re actually on a time frame.

I got engaged feb 12 2021, and my wedding date is July 14,2023. I think it’s probably best to start planning now before everything is booked up.

It's never too early to start planning. The biggest thing is find a budget that's going to work for you and your fiancé and going from there.

Also discuss if you are wanting to have people contribute if they feel comfortable to do so or not and if you feel comfortable doing so.

Start now but go slow at first. It seems like a long time but then it flies by (this is coming from someone who is near the end of a 2 year engagement). For me, I figured out what type of wedding we wanted really early on (micro wedding, elopement, big bash, etc.). Then I had the time to pin down a lot of the details using Pinterest and WeddingWire Forums (things like color palate, season, formal vs. informal, theme, etc.). It wasn't until we were about a year out that I put my nose to the grindstone and contracted my vendors and started purchasing items for the ceremony and reception.

The one exception was my dress. I found the one immediately when I started looking and it was for sale off the rack. I have been holding on to it for the last 2 years. If you plan to order a dress from a boutique then you could start shopping now but you still have pleanty of time if you want to wait.

Congratulations!! I don't think it's too soon at all!

I got engaged in October of 2021 and I have planned our wedding for July 22nd, 2023! I am a huge planner and all of our venues were booked for 2022! Especially if you have your heart set on a certain time of year I definitely don't think it's too early to start exploring options and making plans! We have nailed down quite a few details and big stressful items so now we can enjoy the small fun things like dress shopping, celebrating with friends, and cake designs! I definitely recommend jumping in as soon as you're comfortable - I found it has taken so much stress of of us since we have so much time to figure out all of the details!

Not too soon at all! We got engaged in July 2021 and have already picked out our venue, florist, and photographer! July is one of the busiest times of year for the wedding industry so if you want to lock in your favorite vendors, I would absolutely start!

Congrats on your engagement! Personally, I don't think you can start planning soon enough for a wedding (especially considering the wedding boom!). Another pro to planning early - maybe you can front-load a bulk of the planning... that way, you won't be so stressed with a ton of last minute things and enjoy life between now and then.

Not at all. Mine is in September of 2023 and I’m starting now. So it’s never too early because dates will disappear in no time.
