Too many desserts?

Tayler, on April 20, 2017 at 2:01 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 18

Hey everyone! So my FH and I are having a barn wedding, and I had planned on serving cupcakes for the dessert. The caterior we chose includes ice cream and cobbler (for no extra charge, so why not right?). We are also having a s'mores station. I feel like all three is over kill, and a waste? And if I do without the cupcakes, what are your suggestions for the "cake cutting" part of the reception? Thank you!! Smiley smile

You can also let anyone take home extras. I would prefer more desserts then food. But I'm a chubby dessert loving fool

Push the s'mores station towards the end of the evening maybe. No such thing as too much dessert.

That is perfect. You have three choices and I bet you will see that most people will have all three.

I don't think it's overkill at all I think it's great you have a variety for your guests to choose from. We are doing the same thing for my wedding- wedding cake, carrot cake, cheese cake and creme brûlée..it could be too much but I don't really care lol I forgot to mention we are also doing apple cider doughnuts as table favors haha can you tell we like our sweets? Lol

Never too much. I think we are having more than you. Even our venue coordinator thought we have too much but oh well.

We will have dessert served as part of dinner (sticky toffee pudding or white chocolate cheesecake or ice cream/sorbet) plus cakes (banana chocolate, strawberry shortcake, irish cream cheesecake, chocolate truffle gluten free) and 3 types of tarts (butter, pecan and Portuguese) fruit and less sweet apple pastry.

I'm having a ten dessert station, a three tier cake, and a special pudding bar - and I dont think its enough dessert because i know there will be something for everyone!!

The pudding bar really is something for FH cause he is a fool for pudding and I thought i'd surprise him

I think this is a wonderful combination of different flavors and textures and no, its def not enough

I would loose the s'mores station as they tend to be the messiest out of all you have mentioned.

This sounds wonderful. As someone who isn't a fan of cake (I know I know) I would be overjoyed to see 3 other options. And for me, I'd melt (no pun intended) for a s'more messy or not.

As a lover of all things delicious and sweet I'd say, keep up the good work and stick with this amazing spread of treats!!!

Never too many sweets! I like the options. Smiley smile Our daughter and FH are having a big donut cake at their wedding. They will have a small cake for cutting......you could just do a small cake for the cutting.

Maybe it's my inner fat girl talking ... but I think there's never such thing as too many desserts! I agree with @svetlana maybe you can do the s'mores more towards an end of the night treat??

I think having the smores as a later night snack is a dynamite idea. However, I would also eat all of them at the same time. No shame in my game.
