Too early for engagement photos??

Edith, on March 7, 2017 at 6:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

We are planning our wedding for the late spring of 2018 but have been engaged since the end of November. How early is too early to get engagement photos done?

We had ours done about a year out from our wedding. We got engaged in November of 15 and wanted a fall session so we really didn't have much choice. Is there a particular season you are wanting capture? That may limit you options

Think about what you want from the pictures. Let that lead to you what season you should take the pictures in. Originally my FH and I were considering a fall wedding, so had pictures taken last fall. Now that we are having our wedding in May, I am not sure if I want to use those pictures.

I got engaged June 16 and already did my photo shoot and we're not getting married until August 19. It was free for us to do the shoot so we decided to do it in December for the fall/winter season

We ended up doing ours a year out because we're planning the wedding out of state and that's when we and our photographer were available. We also wanted to use the pics for our save the dates!

I got engaged November 16 and we did our photo shoot in December. Lol. Our engagement party was in February 17 and we played a video of our photo shoot. We are getting married in September 17. It worked for us because we want a Fall wedding.

I would think before you're engaged would be the only time it's too early to do engagement pictures

We're doing ours late spring/ early summer. We're not even using them for anything, just to get comfortable with our photographer. It's all about preference and time of year. You can do them whenever!

Our wedding is May of 2018 and engagement photos will be taken in April. I think it depends on what look you're going for in your photos like PP have mentioned!

My wedding is 9/8/18 and we're doing our engagement photos in late May of this year. You can do them whenever you want, just decide which season you want to do them and go from there.

We got engaged midwinter (which is ugly and gray here) and we plan to wait until summer. It depends on the season you want, there's really no time limit to these.

We are getting married on 8-5-18 and did our photos September 2016 just because we wanted to start getting comfortable with photographer plus they were free. Had planned to possibly use them for Christmas Card pictures but didn't. I would say go for it do what works best for you.

We're doing ours in September to get more comfortable with our photographer and so FH can lose some weight.

You should do your e-pics with your wedding photographer. Do you have your wedding photographer booked yet? I would wait until after that.

We are doing ours in May and we got engaged in September. But i also agree that you should do it with your wedding photographer so that you can be comfortable with them and they aren't some random person taking pics at your wedding.

It's never too early for engagement photos! We were a little late in doing ours and did them less than a month before our wedding, haha. I recommend doing them at least a few months before your wedding if you want to use them for save the dates.

ETA: I agree with annakay - it's a good idea to do these photos with your wedding photographer. You'll get a good feel for him/her to make sure you like them and want to use them for your wedding day, and you'll get to see actual photos of you guys from that photographer.
