To wear a veil or no?

I'm just wondering if wearing a veil is still a pretty common thing to do? My mom wants me to wear one, and it's not a big deal. I just don't understand why I would want something that's just gonna cover my hair and the back of my dress? Help!! I don't understand anything about veils: how long...

Do I wear I at the reception? Do I wear it in all pictures?

I love a good veil. But if you're not into it.. don't wear one or if you want to just make your mom happy do a birdcage. It won't cover your hair and you can still see the back of your dress.

I didn't think I'd want one, but the consultant put one on me when I went dress shopping and I fell in love. Try one on and see what you think!

All the details are just personal preference. I'm wearing a sheath dress and I'm planning on a chapel-length veil. I'll just wear it for the ceremony and some pictures, since it'll be too long to wear while doing any actual activities.

Team Veil! Do you have a picture of you in your dress?

I definitely recommend Etsy for veils. The Etsy shop BlancaVeils is probably where I will buy mine from. I know a few other brides on here have as well and highly recommended them. They are a fraction of the price you'd pay at a bridal shop.

The veil I wanted at the shop was $200. The one on BlancaVeils is $36.

Also, you don't have to have it covering your hair. There are many styles that put the veil under your up-do, which is what I plan on doing.

So not team veil. I wore one for my first wedding and I hated it. It was annoying and in the way the whole time. I couldn't wear it for outdoor pics, as it was breezy and the thing kept flying off my head.

This time, I wore flowers in my hair instead and felt much better about it!

Lots of brides on here wear one just because they like the look - but it's totally a personal preference thing. Length depends on your venue and dress style (a really long veil is super awkward for a breezy outdoor ceremony, but great for a church aisle) When you pick your dress, the salon will probably try to put one on you - just don't let them pressure you to buy it on the spot, they are hugely marked up! make a note of the length, using the many available internet guides as a gauge, then get a used one or buy from Etsy

I loved my veil!!!! It really made me feel like a bride, and made for some gorgeous pictures too. I would suggest going to the boutique where you bought your dress and trying on different veil lengths and styles to see what you like and looks good with your dress. I wore mine for all our pictures and then took it out for the reception.

I didn't wear one, and always had the intention not to. I tried one on while trying dresses, and I just felt weird.

I'm not sure what I'm doing yet, but my sister did a short veil so she still had one but it didn't cover her dress.

I'm not wearing one, my mom almost had a coronary when I told her. I'm going to a headpiece.

I wore a veil for the ceremony, and then switched to a sparkly headband for the reception. I see veils as a fun, once-in-a-lifetime accessory that can really complement the look of a wedding gown.

I decided to not wear the veil. 1. Because of how gorgeous my hair was. 2. Because I was worried about the wind blowing the veil around since our ceremony and photos were outside in the vineyard.
