TO SOLDER...OR TO NOT SOLDER?

Meagan, on July 17, 2010 at 11:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Was curious about everyone's opinions on having your e-ring and wedding band soldered together? I hear it's great for wear and tear on the two rings so they don't spin and rub against each other..but I like the idea of maybe just wearing my wedding band when necessary.

Anyone have their rings soldered together and then regretted the decision? What are the pros and cons?

    My sister got her soldered together. & mine could be if I really wanted but like you, sometimes I will only wear my band, like for work. I have on a size 7 right now and it comes off in my gloves @ work, so I wont be wearing it to work. I don't now.. so I want my band to have a sizer on it so that its more snug then my engagement ring. I definitely wouldn't get mine soldered together because of my job because i am hoping to make a career or long term position out if it. and i definitely dont want to NOT wear my band after being officially married.

    I don't want mine soldered together because I want to be able to leave just my band on at times: vacations, repairs... The only thing is I think I'll need a band with diamonds all the way around because I don't want it to constantly twist around. That would drive me crazy because I'm OCD like that!

    I'm glad you both have this opinion! I'm OCD as well about things like that..my rings both have a flat bottom and so far the e-ring doesn't twist very much so maybe that'll help Smiley smile

    Kali-My e-ring is also a problem at work at times since I work with patients. I'm afraid of scratching someone! I wear gloves a lot too but I think mine is tight enough to never come off without me knowing.

    I lost my promise ring at work in gloves so when he gave me my e-ring Its fitted better and I pay super close attention I dont like to wear it to work cause of germs and ect but I dont want to hurt his feelings so I wear it always once I get my band I may only wear that since they are easier to keep clean and not as big.

    I have my rings soldered. I have two bands with diamonds either side of my solitaire, and it drove me crazy how they would not sit perfectly. The soldering for me was an excellent option! The rings always sit right now.

    My E-ring is a solitare with a wrap, so I had them soldered. My band is nothing like my rings so they won't be soldered together to make one ring.

    I don't think I will solder mine, because I will want to wear my band when I am not wearing my e-ring. I take my e ring off when doing dishes and doing laundry.

    I looked into the soldering but decided to go with a clip instead. That way if I want to wear both I can and they'll sit perfect or I can unclip it and just wear one or the other. @ Shannon, I prefer CDO lol, it makes more sense in my head than OCD!

    I'm still doing research on where you can get them, I haven't asked my jeweler yet so I'm not sure. Basically it wraps around the bottom of the 2 rings and holds them in place so they don't spin around one another.

    @Shannon-that's funny and true!!

    @Jessica-I am curious about the clip as well! That may be a great option! Then I can have the appearance of it being joined together but have the option to separate them as well for dishes, work and such.
